Tripartite kicked-off a workshop in Malaysia, funded by @EU_FPI to map the surveillance of antimicrobial resistance and use (AMR/AMU) in different sectors.
This workshop helped to develop a roadmap to strengthen One Health AMR/AMU integrated surveillance system in the country.

AMR is a threat to animal & human health. Overusing antibiotics in farming creates drug-resistant bacteria in food, water & the environment, making infections harder to treat.

📚 Today's #MondayRead highlights the use of the @WHO AWaRe system in antibiotic surveillance & stewardship programs across #LMICs.
�� AMR is a #globalhealth threat, with inappropriate antibiotic use being a key issue. AWaRe aims to improve usage & address AMR.
📊 Some key findings from 85 studies (2017-2024):
🔹 56.4% focused on antibiotic use trends
🔹 68.2% showed overuse of Watch antibiotics
🔹 High dispensing of antibiotics without prescriptions in countries like Pakistan & Bangladesh
💡 Targeted AWaRe-based stewardship programs are essential to meet UNGA goals & improve Access antibiotic use.
