muse has been a genuinely impressive product to play with. it has all of the functionality of the imessage agents in flight today but also has all of the ingredients that will expose it to hundreds of millions including a massive friend graph through insta, increasingly rich context from email & other services which you connect, & more importantly stuff like fb marketplace.
marketplace in particular is an incredible distribution wedge. millions of normal people could encounter muse simply cuz an agent helps them find something, negotiate the price, & arrange pickup.
pretty good execution here from fb.
Dear Founders:
🏃♀️🏃♀️If you aren't working 150% as hard as last year ... maybe more ...
You're falling behind. I know it's brutal. I know it may even sound toxic, to some extent.
But this is The Age of AI
Steak knives are the prize otherwise. And steak knives just aren’t worth it, in the end.
I sat with a founder recently who had just raised a good round. Almost immediately, he got slower. They had raised, and he felt they were supposed to behave like a much larger company: OKRs, a responsibilities matrix, quarterly planning, etc. But the team was still only a handful of people. The two-week goals they used during the batch worked much better for them!
We did our own version of this mistake at Algolia. Our first HR hire wanted to build a career framework. The idea sounded good to me, I wanted people to be able to see how they could grow. But it backfired. People started looking at the ladder instead of what the company needed.
Processes are good when they can help make things faster. Hiring and support are good examples. But don't put in place processes that are going to slow you down!
Do the thing that gets you users. OKRs can wait.
Canadian airlines need to meaningfully step it up w/in-flight internet. Where are the Starlinks?
On an 8 hour Air Canada flight and the internet service is dial-up speed. Took me 3 tries to even PAY for the services.
We all have to just do better.
