1. Learning about HRV from a wearable company is like learning about nutrition from a supplement company. Expect exaggerated claims about HRV & how accurately their tool can measure it. HRV is useful, but body batteries, % recovery, & readiness scores are marketing hype.

If you’re new to tracking personal or athlete data (subjectives, HRV, sleep, etc), rest assured that optimal status metrics are not required for a high level of physical performance. This should be fairly unsurprising given that none of these are measures of physical performance.
~90% of useful health advice is:
• Walk, strength train, push yourself sometimes.
• Avoid sugar & alcohol, drink water, eat your veggies.
• 8 hrs of sleep, less screen time, more sunshine.
Everything else barely moves the needle.
