I have enhanced a rare colour paget plate for you: It is the deck of Ernest Shackleton's doomed ship Endurance, taken in colour by Frank Hurley back in 1915, after it became trapped in the ice during their trans-Antarctic expedition. It sank soon after, beneath the Weddell Sea.
This remarkable autochrome of a native American chief from the Santa Clara Valley in California is 99 years old and taken by Fred Payne Clatworthy back in 1922. It is original colour (not colourised)
On the rocky coast of Brittany, 111 years ago, a lone fisherman casts his gaze to the open sea. I have enhanced for you this wonderfully atmospheric autochrome, taken by Gustave Gain around 1910. It is original colour (not colourised).
For admirers of Endurance and Sir Ernest Shackleton's trans-antarctic expedition 1914-1917, I have cleaned & enhanced these 107-year-old paget plates taken by Frank Hurley. The last shot is of Shackleton himself. They are all original colour (not colourised).
Spent a few hours trying to clean-up this beauty, but it was worth it: It is Ernest Shackleton and his crew on the ice, beside their ship Endurance, during his trans-antarctic expedition in 1915, taken on paget plate by Frank Hurley. It is original colour (not colourised).
