The plight of Aziz / Hax
Every day, we wake up into a world of incredible opportunity. A world where we are free to pursue that which goads us, or free to enjoy the pleasures of the creations of others, be them man-made or by God. For many of us, the joys and temptations of the creations of others lead us into entirely separate worlds. Super Smash Bros. Melee is its own worldly microcosm. This microcosm consists of the creators of the game itself, the characters, the art, and surrounding it all is a community. A community who, decades beyond its inception, keeps the fire of this world burning. As players, consumers, content creators, and the rest of us who were ensnared by the beauty of this game, we all bear a cross to carry the culture of this community, lest it one day disappear.
Most people in this community are here as participants. We have our thoughts and ideas, but we don’t advance the game or its community beyond showing our skill or keeping the friends we made. Indeed, the melee community could not exist without the people who simply play, enjoy, and say nothing. When Hungrybox proudly shouted that “this is not just a game, this is a lifestyle!” he was right — but only for a select few. But that doesn’t mean we do not all have a due diligence to carry the future of this community forward.
Hax has done so much good for the melee world, it is truly a shame to see his life constrained. Actually, it is a shame to see all life constrained. The reality of our freedom and opportunity in life is that despite the unalienable rights we are given, it is nearly impossible to shake the idea that we subsist within owned space. Can you truly enact your will unhindered by the government and structure of everything around you? We are constantly forced and expected to conform, meanwhile the melee community was historically one of the havens of expression. Wombo combo, evidencedotzip, the myriad of made up words and expressions, creating a tag and persona for yourself, “melee was a chance for us to be somebody” - that means differentiating yourself. That means the freedom to participate in a community and explore ideas, even ones you may deem wrong. In exchange for Hax’s pursuits in this Melee world — creating hardware and controllers, software mods, new game versions, countless videos detailing the nuances and curiosities of our game, and yes, even voicing his opinion on another player in multi-hour long videos, we have taken a life uninhibited, and placed it in a walled garden cage. Now, he is not so different than the zoo animal, forced to constantly make a mockery of himself in pursuit of freedom. Nothing pains me more than to see someone at the top of something, be relegated to irrelevancy and to have nothing to do but ask for forgiveness and freedom.
It should surprise no one that after three straight years of a man being kept from his passion and purpose, he regresses into a form of madness. I envy Hax in some ways, to have the incredible level of dedication and passion for something that I wish I had. Is this why he has been kept away for so long, because his dedication to this game and its community is something most of us could never come close to replicating? I urge everyone in this community, stop judging this man who cares so much for saying things you thought were off color or unacceptable. I wish we could all be that free, I wish we could all be as honest as Hax has been, even if in the wrong. That is life unconstrained, to pursue crazy ideas and opinions without constant fear of persecution. If you grieve for the lives of those limited, then do not let Hax continue to be. Show this community that you reject tyranny and holding people back from their dreams and potential. It is not your place or my place to so harshly judge and punish a man for expressing himself. I pray that nobody in this community is ever ostracized in such a way ever again. It is time for this community to show humility and love for your fellow man. A community does not abandon his fellow man, if they do, they are not a community at all. Society could not have been built if humans did not collaborate and forgive more than they disagreed and stayed resentful. Show that this is a community that helps one another and one worth being a part of.

@TylerGlaiel It's not a "thing" trying to explain lore and story - it's the main antagonist of the story who woke up the doom slayer attempting to control him. It's not rejecting exposition, him destroying it IS the exposition and characterizes the slayer
@Rap1238727 please drop zone bair Marth sometimes, he has too many timing mixups once he goes low. you can't reliably catch him at the edge. you need to contest him while he spams side B, he's abusing it on you.
@fromsoftserve So you're not comparing DS2 Vanilla exe with Scholar of the First Sin exe directly, you're comparing vanilla DS2 with vanilla DS2 + scholar's visual configuration applied to the original game?
@fromsoftserve As amazing as the path tracing mod is, I feel it deviates too far from these originals. Would you ever make a mod that uses light engine but remains as faithful as possible to the original colors and brightness/contrast? Nice comparison
