Remember, the "I" in AI is marketing.
The guy is talking like he is in charge of policy or anything. The whole "AI" fiasco is a hard lesson that big tech requires deeper oversight, regulation and fact checking.
Any pursuit of superintelligence has to be grounded in the core principle that if the AI we build is not helping humanity and under human control, it's not worth pursuing.
We also need to accelerate and spread the benefits of AI, such that they are diffused broadly across countries, communities, and companies. This requires a frontier ecosystem in which both closed and open-source models can thrive.
And for firms, itβs imperative that they retain full control over their unique and tacit knowledge. Every organization should be able to build its own continuous learning loop/hill climbing machine, without becoming dependent on any one model provider, and have the ability to embed its own knowledge into models and weights they control.
So, in this context, we welcome the research, focus, and deliberate pacing needed to get alignment right as the design goal. We also welcome ideas like "embedded evaluators" and the broader efforts to develop the mechanisms to make this more than just talk.
The key is that this cannot be controlled by a handful of entities, but must have broad representation across the ecosystem, countries, and fields, including academia.
This is the approach we are taking: broad access and choice at every layer of the AI stack; enterprise control of learning loops and models; and the βCode of Conductβ that underlies our own first party MAI models that weβll publish tomorrow for public consultation.
@praiseleven While I enjoy the view, the amount of time and effort required to get there is not sustainable for a normal person. Especially if you also need to study or work
That by default, animations and transitions are "janky" is a SwiftUI problem. Not being able to create a performant List is a SwiftUI problem. Whatever you're doing with Observables is ... well, you get the idea. SwiftUI (just like Swift) lacks vision and disrespects developers by wasting their time.
scared by the content of ~/Library/Application Support/Knowledge/knowledgeC.db freely available.
it has way to much information that I'm comfortable. It has Safari searches, Apps uses, devices, timestamps of my whole activity. including information from my iPhone god damn it. Any *damn* actor can access it without my knowledge and transfer to wherever to track me even more.
@adamscochran The only thing that needs to happen is to hold these mfs accountable for all the negligence of leaving their glorified bash scripts run unchecked and compromising 3rd party services.
I think we have a ~50% chance of all dying as a result of superintelligence, mostly due to actions in the next few to 10 years. I don't expect to have that resolved to below 10% or above 90% before we either make it through, or we don't.
We will have to act despite uncertainty.
