The Employer of Choice - Gender Diversity 🏆 in 🇵🇰 by @IFC_org & @PBCOfficial celebrate companies with #genderdiversity policies that empower female employees.
Companies are assessed according to a scorecard analyzing indicators such as equal pay, mentorship, & workplace culture.
Ensuring #climate-focused training & mentorship is 🔑 to getting more women in #Pakistan to take up green jobs. This was a major takeaway from experts at the recent ‘Green Jobs for Women in Pakistan’ webinar, part of @IFC_org & @ThePBCOfficial’s #Climate2Equal Initiative.
Naz Khan, Principal Country Officer @IFC_SouthAsia shares some startling statistics about women's participation in the labor force and access to financial services.
In that regard, the IFC is working through the private sector to increase women's participation in these areas.

Jazz, a multi-sector telecom provider, was announced today as the winner of the second “Employer of Choice” Gender Diversity Awards, organized jointly by International Finance Corporation (IFC) and the Pakistan Business Council (PBC) to improve economic opportunities for women. The awards celebrate private sector employers in the country who are committed to implementing strong gender diversity policies and empowering women in the workplace, while also publicly disclosing this information in order to encourage other companies to do the same.
Second and third place were awarded to PepsiCo and Engro Fertilizers Ltd., respectively. Seven companies received awards as honorable mentions. They are Bank Alfalah, the Bank of Punjab, Daraz, K-Electric, Nestle Pakistan, SCB Pakistan Limited and Syngenta Pakistan (in alphabetical order).
Companies are judged on five key principles—promoting gender equality at leadership and policy level; ensuring a diverse workforce; eliminating gender pay gaps; creating an optimal workplace culture; and providing coaching and mentoring for women employees. These principles are the basis for the Gender Diversity and Disclosure Scorecard, developed by the IFC and PBC in 2021, serving as the guiding document that companies use to submit proof of their policies and procedures. This year, additional indicators on climate and gender were included to assess the commitment of companies to gender-inclusive climate action, addressing the disproportionate impact of climate change on women.
Key insights of this year’s submissions include:
•All Top 10 companies have scores higher than last year’s winner.
•79% of applicants have policies to support gender equality across recruitment.
•58% of companies declared public targets to increase representation of women over the short-term.
•58% of companies had undertaken internal or third-party gender assessments.
•51% of companies offered childcare support through onsite daycare centers and childcare allowance.
•45% of companies have a formal policy on flexible working arrangements.
•45% of companies offered “returnship” programmes for women returning from career breaks.
•Half the responding companies have less than 15% women in their overall workforce; among them 8% companies had less than 6% female employees.
•Only 5% of companies had more than 35% female employees overall.
By encouraging businesses to openly share their gender policies, CERB is working to creating a culture of peer-learning, transparency, and public accountability for the country’s business sector.
