@blueprintsmb22 Know a fab business in western WI that closes for a week at the 4th, a week for deer opener and 2wks end of year (also pay ~15% over market). Had <3% voluntary attrition last year with any other business in area at 15+%. Grown $15 to ~$70M last 5yrs

@TripleNetTyler 1. If you have a singular main criteria at any point in your career probably setting yourself up for failure 2. For most, grinding in your 20s just means more grinding in your 30+s, just from a slightly higher vantage point

@SeanODowd15 Worked at a remote startup where they gave us DoorDash credit for lunch every Friday with a zoom. 1/mo was all hands townhall, 1/mo was a small group you got assigned to, 1/mo was random 1-1 and 1/mo you were encouraged to take the free time to decompress. Worked really well

@thesmbrecruiter Always confuses me when people view employee turnover as "stealing" or anything but their own fault. If someone else provides a better opportunity why should they not take it? If people are jumping out of your plane, why blame the owner of the field they land in?

@SBA_Matthias Assuming you can “safely take home” 1/4 SDE hard to go much under 1M. Would much prefer a business at 1.5-2M but multiple expansion competing with LMM PE makes it tough. Cheat code here is a spouse with same level W2, healthcare, etc.

@chernobelskiy This is the 90+ percentile of plumber earnings, the equivalent for doctors is high 6 if not 7-figures. Most people that become doctors have a desire to help people and do intellectually stimulating work that you probably won't find soldering copper pipes all day

@typjohns Non-zero part of the equation is the NIMBY reaction to steel plant/arc-furnace, those shops are stuck where they are and generally aren't building new ones, at least not close to cities

@typjohns Historically labor, land & tax costs justified the added logistics burden. In addition to logistics outpacing the others these operations now struggle to attract engineering talent needed to automate ops, playing out in extra-rural (>90min from city) mfgr all over the country

@sweatystartup For a guy that has such a staunch stance on driving a large/heavy personal vehicle to protect yourself and family it’s a head scratcher that you’d trust the quality of driver/car offered by UberX. Either wildly conflicting practices or this is bait (my guess is the later)

@SMB_Attorney Most over those resorts are overrun, longs lines on weekends. Not a fan of Vail Resorts but they have pricing power, limited supply and superior product. Could probably hike another 30-50% with minimal demand impact

@SunShakSunday Crazy the amount of “save for college” discussion that goes on about kids, have gov sponsored tax-advantaged savings programs, etc. But no one tells you you’re gunna pay college tuition $$ for them from 1-5 too

@RegZeller Underrated post. Think a good add on would be benefit will vary widely depending on how intentional you are in getting exposure to decision makers. Handful of ways to go about that but important to not get stuck in a series of quasi-entry level roles and lose momentum
