On the occasion SC strikes down the unconstitutional #electoralbonds scheme allowing donors to anonymously send funds to political parties, I share my report that once exposed corrupt practices of poll officers hand in gloves with some big parties: https://t.co/AOahxGbzn9
The Election Commission of India is under fire like never before.
The SIR has struck 13 crore names off draft rolls, putting the EC at the centre of intense public debate over its role in deciding who gets to vote — and who doesn’t.
HOWEVER, what nobody knew: through that same period, some of the sharpest questions were being asked from inside.
Out today, after months of work. Our #ExpressInvestigation 🧵
(1/10)
Yesterday, @IndianExpress reported an unprecedented rupture inside the Election Commission: TWO of its three members objecting on record, 14 times in 10 months, to decisions taken without their knowledge.
Today, the second part of our investigation looks at the concern Election Commissioners Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Vivek Joshi flagged most often: Who really controls our electoral rolls?
We followed that question to Goa, where we found something deeply concerning.
Stay with me....

A New Low in Media
Received a call from a media house which is bringing out a special magazine edition on Environment Day featuring people working on sustainability.
I was offered a full-page profile space IF I PAID THEM Rs 2.5 lakh.
You can imagine what my reply was!

she is fundamentally misidentifying and misrepresenting the problem. the contradiction here is between capital and labour not men and women. exclusion from exploitative labour is not liberation. gig work is unsafe, underpaid, unregulated and coercive. (1/n)
I don't know if it's sad, worrisome or hilarious that someone who loves the ECI paid a really cheap and bad quality agency to run an online bot trolling campaign against @reporters_co investigation. Yet again.

Well , Abhishek’s mistake wasn’t missing paperwork — it was rattling men in power with journalism that actually mattered. Imagine being so fragile that you need to hide behind HR excuses to silence a voice. If this is the cost of honesty, he’s already paid in full — and still stands taller.
In 12+ yrs of journalism, never seen this: Joined on Aug 21, next day was asked for an “experience certificate” or offer would be withdrawn. Submitted it, yet they withdrew the offer on Aug 27. The job hunt begins again.
PIB debunked 69 false claims relating to Op Sindoor between May 7 & 16, but chose not to fact-check Indian mainstream media which incessantly put out falsehood in the name of breaking news. Was there a method in the madness? @shinjineemjmdr reports

AI can be a powerful tool, but it can also add to misinformation & a shrinking journalism job market. This week, UNESCO’s World Press Freedom Day event focused on these opportunities & threats – a reminder to #CheckYourBylines for real news by real people. https://t.co/9LpnTSoki7
