So im at a race last night and i actively looked at most of the micros as they rolled out for the feature. In staging i seen 2 cars the DID NOT have left rear cage uprights in them. When I woke up this morning, I got to thinking who’s problem is this? Is it the race tracks problem, the sanctioning bodies problem, the car builders problem, the car owner, or the driver.

The track owner probably has enough to worry about. Am I gonna make payroll with the front gate? Is there enough hotdogs in the concession stand? Is the track too wet or too dry?

Then I look at the sanctioning body. They create the rules, but let’s be honest if the person who designed your car could not see the safety issue with leaving the left rear cage upright out do you honestly think a person with an official shirt and a clipboard is going to know any better? Hell in most cases they are volunteer help.

It’s not the car builders problem. The check has cashed and you are already at the track.

So now we are down to the car owner and the driver The car owner and the driver probably doesn’t know any better because they bought a car from a “reputable” chassis builder.

Is it my problem? I just casually walked by as a spectator.

Imagine you had a nice square table with four legs. It’s very sturdy. A person could actually sit on either of the four sides without any problem. Now, imagine you took one of those legs off. You could only sit on two sides of the table and be supported. If you sat on either of the two sides that adjoin the missing leg, the table will collapse. Do you see where I’m going with this yet???

If I walked through the pits prior to the race and went to the drivers meeting telling people my concern, how many friends do you think I would make? The track owner would probably say “if it’s not safe I don’t want it on my track”. The sanctioning body would probably go “We will let it pass tonight, address it before you come back”. The car owner would say “I just had my frame powdercoated, can we do it at the end of the year?”

Meanwhile, THE DRIVER is the one who could end up in the WHEELCHAIR.

@ripjetson9 @braddoty18 @kfod88 I think we should also be encouraging the tracks to be safer, higher catch fences.. etc! Driver know the risk strapping in and are a lot closer to the action but also as a spectator i know there could be risk too! Just my opinion 🫶🏽

@ripjetson9 @braddoty18 @kfod88 I’d rather them come off the car for the drivers sake, their fire suits can still only handle about 30-40 seconds in that type of heat and lets me be honest… i have seen more fire suppression systems not work or fly out of the car then actually work. 😖😖
