Union Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari announced approval of ₹1,427.61 crore for a 14.9-km four-lane Thiruvarur bypass on the Nagapattinam–Thanjavur stretch of NH-83, along with two additional ROBs on NH-129A and NH-134A in Tamil Nadu. The project is expected to ease congestion in Thiruvarur, cut travel time by around 15 minutes, improve road safety, and strengthen connectivity between industrial hubs and port towns.
