DY Chandrachud:
Absolute freedom of speech does not exist.

Raj: If someone expresses an opinion on social media and ends up arrested without bail, is it not the duty of the Supreme Court to intervene?

DY Chandrachud:
The Supreme Court must interfere. However, there are so many pressing issues like poverty and development that the nation should focus on, rather than bothering with every misplaced social media post. Of course, if it incites hatred against specific groups, it becomes a serious concern. Otherwise, we should leave people be. As I have said, dissent is a safety valve of democracy. We should allow people space and focus on the real issues facing the nation.

IMPORTANT: West Bengal is reportedly dropping eggs from school mid-day meals and handing over a vegetarian-only meal contract to ISKCON. Meanwhile, states like Karnataka and Tamil Nadu are expanding nutrition for children with more protein-rich food. School meals should be guided by science and nutrition, not politics or religious preferences. Keep ideology off a child’s plate, for God’s sake. 🙏

पेपर लीक का धंधा अरबों का धंधा है। पैसा टॉप तक जाता है। पेपर लीक बंद कर दिए तो MLA/MP ख़रीदने के पैसे कहाँ से आयेंगे?

Today, as the BJP government completes two years in Odisha, I can only say this: it feels like a bad comedy inflicted on the people. We elected leaders who neither understand governance nor seem interested in learning it.

Ministers speak like pathetic jokers. They are filing FIRs against their own administration. The Revenue Minister claims important files have gone missing because they might contain something damaging to the government. The irony is hard to ignore — the BJP was very much part of the government when the Kandhamal riots happened. Now they are busy sawing off the very branch they are sitting on.

Buffoonery has become politics in Odisha’s double-engine government.

His family's trust and US-based properties.

Serious claims of quid pro quo involving executives of the company (likely Coempt or similar) handling CBSE's On-Screen Marking (OSM) contract.

When will Odisha's media wake up and start asking the hard questions? Students across the country are suffering due to these repeated failures in the education system. Accountability cannot be selective.

Today, I addressed a formal communication to the Union Tribal Affairs Minister, Shri Jual Oram Ji, regarding the escalating conflict in Sijimali, Rayagada.

The tribal communities in this region are facing significant distress since several days & it is startling that the Union Ministry has not yet initiated any protective measures or interventions. Our tribal brothers and sisters deserve the full protection of the law and the proactive support of the government.

I have expressed my strong condemnation of the current delay and have urged the Minister to act at the earliest to restore peace and ensure justice for the people of Sijimali.

And, Tata Steel was born because of “Gorumahisani” in Mayurbhanj, Odisha.

In 1904, geologist P.N. Bose discovered massive high-grade iron ore deposits here and wrote a letter to J.N. Tata recommending the site for a steel plant.

That one letter led to the birth of TISCO, now Tata Steel, a company with a market cap of over ₹2.63 lakh crore today.

The rest is history.

On a side note, Odisha is now Tata Steel’s largest investment destination with investments crossing ₹1 lakh crore.

This is Paradip Port, one of India’s largest cargo-handling ports.

Paradip Port achieved a historic cargo output of 156.45 MMT in FY 2025-26.

For the first time ever, its net surplus crossed ₹2000 crore.

Strong growth across cargo segments:
• Petroleum, Oil & Lubricants : +25.68%
• Containers: +7.77%
• Steel cargo: +43%
• Coal: +4.44%
• Flux: +18.32%
• LPG: +105%

PPA also retained its position as India’s best-performing bulk port, recording the highest berth productivity in the country at 35,059 MT per day per berth, nearly double the national average of ~18,000 MT.

Paradip continues to strengthen Odisha’s position as a major industrial and maritime powerhouse of India.
