@WahrAndrew @mitchellbyars @kierannicholson @sam_tabachnik i was up at trail ridge road a few weeks ago, and what vegetation there is (tundra) was so dry there were literal dust devils, so it is possible that the fire has expanded above treeline. after a heat wave caused fires in the arctic this summer, this is not much of a surprise.

@WahrAndrew @mitchellbyars @kierannicholson @sam_tabachnik i am familiar with this region, and you are correct; there is little vegetation along the divide. from what i can tell, the fire is blowing ambers and sparks on the wind so it can jump "barriers". security footage from burning houses look like it's blowing rain-fire.
