September 13, 2025 I achieved my childhood dream of becoming the best in the world at this silly little thing I do.
33k into the 35k race, after grinding my way into the lead, I tore the tendon of one of my hamstring muscles off the bone at the hip. Those last two kilometres were the hardest thing I’ve ever done. Every step was a battle of will to get a little bit closer to the finish line.
1 year on and it’s the learning that I am so much stronger, tougher and determined than I’ve ever allowed myself to believe
I am that stands out way more than the victory.
It still hurts, I’m still not back to 100% but I am excited to get on more start lines in 2027 looking towards my 8th World Championship and hopefully qualifying for my 4th Olympic Games.
Now hopefully I can do it with a few more sponsors by my side so the next podium I stand on I don’t have to do it barefoot!
