Today, in many parts of Ukraine, it is the first Sunday after Easter, a day of remembrance.
Traditionally, this is devoted to honoring deceased ancestors and relatives.
But now people also come to fallen soldiers: to sit quietly beside them, to straighten the flags tangled in the wind, to see how silent men with canes and crutches, dressed in khaki, come to visit them β their brothers in arms who made it home alive.
Take a moment today to honor the falken Ukrainian soldiers in any way you can.
These people fought with courage and gave everything so that all of us might have a chance at a happy life in a free, democratic world.
They did the impossible, holding back a colossal enemy like fascist Russia, and we will forever remain in debt to their memory.
