🏴🇬🇧 Your ancestors advanced human civilisation further than any people who ever lived.
This is what they did.
They looked at the oldest evil in human history.
Slavery.
Every civilisation on earth had accepted it.
These people decided to end it.
Not their government. Not their king.
Ordinary people. With no power except their conscience.
They organised the first mass petition in history. 📜
The first boycott ever.
A man on horseback who didn't stop for thirty-five thousand miles. 🐴
He introduced the same bill to Parliament for twenty years.
On the twentieth year the House of Commons rose to its feet.
Eight hundred thousand people. Free. In a single act of law. ⛓️
They paid forty per cent of the national budget.
They carried the debt for a hundred and eighty-two years.
And decided that wasn't enough.
Sixty years. Three thousand miles of coastline. Sixteen hundred ships captured. A hundred and fifty thousand people freed. ⚓
Over fifteen hundred British sailors died doing it.
One for every nine they freed.
They didn't stop when it was expensive.
They didn't stop when their own people were hungry.
They didn't stop for a century.
The Atlantic fell silent.
And when it did the mill workers of Lancashire, who had chosen to go hungry rather than buy cotton picked by slaves, received a letter from Abraham Lincoln. ✉️
He called it "an instance of sublime Christian heroism which has not been surpassed in any age or in any country."
No other nation in history has done this.
Not at this scale. Not at this cost. Not for this long.
That is your inheritance. 🏴🇬🇧
We are a community of people who care enough to keep these stories alive.
Will you keep your history alive?
We will.

🏴🇬🇧 Britain. 1943.
The war was being fought on every front.
But the coal mines were failing.
Without coal there was no steel. No ships. No weapons.
A hundred thousand miners had left for the front.
So Ernest Bevin announced a solution.
Every tenth man called up for military service would not go to war.
He would go underground.
The ballot was random. No exceptions. No appeals.
University students. Office workers. Farmers’ sons.
Forty-eight thousand of them.
They were called the Bevin Boys.
None of them had ever been in a mine.
The tunnels were four feet high. The coal had to be cut by hand. Six days a week. Ten hours a day.
Some were injured. Some were killed.
They received no campaign medals. No recognition whatsoever.
But they kept the steel mills running. The ships sailing. The weapons being made.
They kept Britain in the war.
When the war ended, most were not released for months. Some were refused their old jobs when they came back. For decades they were not eligible for veteran status.
It took until 1995 for them to receive formal recognition.
Forty-eight thousand young men who went down instead of going to war.
That is your history. And almost no one is telling you. 🇬🇧

The Premier League has granted Manchester United permission to hold a minute’s silence and wear black armbands in tomorrow’s match against Sunderland, in tribute to the victims of yesterday’s terrorist attack in the city.

An absolute travesty at the Olympics.
Angela Carini is forced to box against a biological male. She quits after just 45 seconds, and cries hysterically as her opponent is declared the winner.
Don't look away. This is wokeness.
Remember that while they did this, I held up my baby to a window on Christmas Eve so she could see her family. How anyone could re-elect them after this is beyond me.
