FCC ready for Songbird. Now pair that with a new wave of builders joining Flare this summer.
Flare Summer Signal marks an important pivot: a hackathon focused on products, not prototypes, and open to everyone, everywhere.
You can bring an existing app, start from scratch, or even build an integration the ecosystem still needs.
What matters is shipping something people will still want to use after the winners are announced.
Throughout the summer, builders will have access to resources, Spaces, livestreams, and direct connections across the Flare ecosystem.
This summer, we double down on what matters.
Doubling down on our builders this summer. ☀️
Announcing Flare Summer Signal: a product-oriented online hackathon for teams building useful products on Flare.
Start something new, bring an existing app to Flare, or build a meaningful new integration. The goal is simple: create something with real utility and a reason to keep growing after the hackathon ends.
$12,000 in prizes across two tracks:
1. Interoperable Asset Products
Build products that make assets more useful across Flare and connected ecosystems.
2. Confidential Compute Apps
Build privacy-preserving applications using Flare Confidential Compute.
Development opens today, June 29.
Final submissions close August 14.
This summer is for builders!

STP. 13 is one to watch closely. ✍️
Once approved, it brings Flare Confidential Compute to Songbird, including the foundations for Protocol Managed Wallets and FDC v2.
For builders, this is about new primitives: verifiable private compute, cross-chain execution, and faster attestations.
A key step toward Flare 2.0.
Tomorrow’s livestream will focus on something practical that is often overlooked.
Everyone is using AI to boost productivity, but there is a more fundamental step: finding the focus and sense of purpose needed to commit consistently over time.
How We Use AI to Find Purpose.
Building has never been easier.
You can spin up an app, automate workflows, and experiment with ideas in a fraction of the time it used to take.
That raises a different question.
What should we be building in the first place?
That's the question we'll spend time on this Friday.
We'll explore direction, coordination, and the role AI can play in helping people build work that actually matters.

Flare Smart Accounts let XRP holders trigger actions on Flare by signing normal transactions in their existing XRPL wallet, without needing FLR for gas or switching chains.
Right now the main thing people see is yield products like earnXRP and Monarq, while the actual capability is much broader: the same system can provide direct access to cross-chain lending and borrowing, collateralized positions, liquid staking, all while staying inside XRPL wallets.
Programmable collateral across the entire EVM ecosystem is coming.
Note that we’ve opened a dedicated channel to support builders during this event.
We’ll be working with mentors from both XRPL and Flare to provide support at every stage, even after the hackathon.
We’re seeing increased participation from builders already in our ecosystem, alongside new devs joining Flare. ☀️
As always, the best place to start is with our documentation: https://t.co/xJI1UUKPnK
If you have any questions, our DevRel team is ready to help: @fassko and @0xQuantic.
Builders: You don’t have to start from zero.
You can bring an existing product to Flare or build a key integration. Summer Signal runs until Aug 14.

Let me expand on what is coming and why it matters.
A few weeks ago, ProofRails deployed an x402 facilitator on Flare’s Coston2 testnet, enabling developers to test payments with USDT0. The next step is bringing that infrastructure to Flare mainnet.
x402 allows an API, website, or digital service to request payment directly through HTTP. When an agent requests a paid resource, it receives the price and payment requirements, signs the payment authorization, and retries the request.
The ProofRails facilitator then verifies the payment payload and settles the transaction on Flare. Once confirmed, the service can deliver the requested API response, data, content, compute, or action.
This is key because service providers do not need to build and operate their own blockchain payment infrastructure. They can add programmable, pay-per-use access to their services while ProofRails handles the verification and settlement layer.
But payments are only the starting point.
ProofRails can attach verifiable receipts and execution records to these interactions, helping developers build agentic systems with clear audit trails. Flare’s data protocols can then support applications that depend on verified external events, cross-chain activity, or real-world data.
Together, these components create a foundation for agents that can autonomously discover, purchase, and deliver services while producing evidence of what was requested, paid for, and executed.
That opens the door to practical applications such as paid data feeds, research services, agent marketplaces, execution tools, risk analysis, and machine-to-machine APIs. Over time, the same infrastructure can support more advanced multichain and privacy-preserving workflows.
These capabilities will be especially important for institutional adoption, where autonomous payments need to operate alongside spending controls, reliable settlement, auditability, and verifiable execution.
The community now has an opportunity to help shape this stack from the beginning.
Build paid endpoints. Test agent workflows. Create developer tooling. Explore new services where agents operate not only as interfaces, but as economic actors.
Flare has the infrastructure to play a leading role in this economy. The next step is turning it into products people and agents can actually use.
Think I’ll need the Flare Force for the next push.
If agentic payments are your thing, keep a little USDT0 and FLR ready in a hot wallet. There may be something worth testing pretty soon.
This hackathon feels like the right moment to push harder.

Where are the real build opportunities on Flare right now?

Must-watch for anyone building this summer. 👇
Markets are down bad everywhere, but Flare has never had more utility, stronger value accrual strategy or more room to grow.
Project that into the next parabolic cycle.
Cycles are interesting in that they have zero regard for reality. Vs even 1 year ago Flare is in an inconceivably better utility position. More is coming with Flare 2.0, further expansion of XRPFi, the coming onboarding of meaningful institutional partners (finally), FSA is working to abstract away complexity, FIRE and FIP16 change the token economics for the (vastly) better. And those are just the things that we can discuss publicly. Almost everything we have set out to do is being done (barring adding more FAssets - in the works) and by and large it’s working.
But if you look at the whole crypto market you would think the whole industry is finished - despite more institutional interest and greater clarity than ever before.
Unfortunately cycles are a fact of life, even Amazon had a 94% peak to trough drawdown when the .com cycle burst - but the internet didn’t go away nor did Amazon and neither will crypto and certainly not Flare - which presents more utility than almost anything else in the market.
Every cycle teaches the same lesson, and every time we forget it: near the bottom it always feels like the end, but it never is.
I believe that we're closer to the turn than the mood would have you believe. The roadmap ahead is the thing we're here for. At Flare we trust in the process to ship great product - knowing that is the only true path to winning. Flare will emerge from this brutal winter fighting fit and offering more than ever for the next cycle.
