Heartwarming message from Europe on America’s 250th Birthday.
This man has just returned to Europe after spending a month in the United States. After traveling to over 25 countries, he says America was by far the best country he has ever visited.

This is an important observation that is going mostly unnoticed.
The Supreme Court has decided that Trump must use “regular” armed forces to protect federal buildings and federal officers (ICE), BEFORE he can call in the National Guard.
And President Eisenhower has ALREADY set the legal PRECEDENT.
Do you think Trump didn’t ALREADY know this?
Do you think Trump hasn’t ALREADY done his homework on the law and past legal “precedents?”
Do you still think the Supreme Court is fighting against Trump, in this war against an enemy insurgency, that has infiltrated our entire government?
When the Supreme Court says Trump must use “regular military forces,” BEFORE calling in the National Guard, that gives Trump a whole lot more power over things than most people realize.
Congress cannot stop what is coming.
Congress gave the president authority over one specific group of “regular” military and they can do whatever Trump needs them to do.
“As the president may direct.”
“Focus on the power of POTUS as it relates to the MARINES.”
This is key.
Most people have a very high view of the Marines, and they are a much feared fighting force worldwide. But most people also see the Marines within a lens, where their scope of operation is to land on beaches, fight tough battles and guard important positions.
But that would be a misunderstanding of who the Marines are. Those are all things that the Marines have proven in history to be very good at. Their original function actually is much bigger than that.
Let me offer you a clue, if you don’t know what I’m talking about.
“As the President may direct.”
The Marines were created with one clear purpose: they serve the President of the United States.
“In 1798, when describing the original functions of the Marines, the United States Congress provided that the Corps should serve not only in the ships, garrisons and forts of the United States but, in addition, should be prepared "for any other duty on shore that the President may direct."
“As the president may direct.”
Trump doesn’t need Congressional approval or the permission of any governor in order to deploy the Marines to do whatever he needs to be done, whether overseas or on shore.
This is not limited to combat.

The Marines took an oath to protect the constitution, just like Trump. Their duty is to fulfill that oath.
Trump has the constitutional power, given to him by Congress, while we are in a state of war, to direct the Marines to carry out their oath in whatever way he thinks is necessary, to protect the constitution and the Republic.

Tonight we head home after what has been the trip of a lifetime for me and Mrs T.
When we landed in Chicago four weeks ago we had an itinerary, an RV booking and some World Cup tickets. As I sit here in the same airport waiting for our flight home (and for England v Mexico to begin) I realise what we didn’t plan for was how much we’d fall in love with America.
We’ve driven over 3,000 miles across 12 incredible states, cruised down Route 66, encountered tornadoes and heatwaves, camped under the stars, wandered through world-class cities, explored small towns we’d never heard of before, eaten some of the best barbecue, Cajun food, deep dish, cheesesteaks and burgers we’ve ever had, sampled fantastic local beers, celebrated the 4th of July in Philadelphia, spotted license plates from 41 states and watched 5 unforgettable World Cup matches alongside fans from all over the world.
But what has made this trip truly special hasn’t been the places.
It’s been the people.
To everyone who stopped to chat, welcomed us, recommended a restaurant, suggested a hidden gem, answered one of my many questions on here, shared advice, wished us safe travels, or simply took an interest in our journey… THANK YOU 🫶.
Like Keith from Louisiana, who I chatted with whilst filling up with gas at Buc-ee’s in Leeds, AL. Keith owns a couple of farms and took the time to educate me on the plans for huge data centers in his home state and also the origins of the Eisenhower interstate system. Thank you Keith.
Or the lady from South Carolina who we chatted to whilst sititng on the bleachers at the Field of Dreams. She was also on a road trip with her family and whose husband had briefly left that trip to fly to LA to watch the USMNT’s opening game.
And so many more encounters like these along the way.
The warmth, humour and generosity we’ve experienced everywhere we’ve gone has been overwhelming. I’ve learnt that many Americans feel their country has a negative reputation elsewhere but for us that couldn’t be further from the truth. Everywhere we have been there has been nothing but friendliness, good humour and love.
In my experience social media can often feel divided, but over the past few weeks our experience on here has reminded me just how brilliant it can be. I’ve loved the conversations, the recommendations, the laughs, and getting to share this adventure with so many people.
This World Cup trip has given us memories we’ll treasure forever, but it’s the people we’ve met, both in person and online, that we’ll remember most.
Thank you, America, for your hospitality, your kindness, and for making us feel so welcome. We leave with incredible memories, phones full of photos, suitcases that are heavier than when we arrived, and already a growing list of places we want to come back and visit.
This won’t be goodbye.

The troops arrive to bring greater law and order during times of extreme discontent or offer relief and medical aid to residents in need following natural events such as hurricanes.
But who calls them in? Who controls the national guard, and what does it mean to federalize them?
Who controls the National Guard?
In most circumstances, the National Guard is under the control of state governors and not the President of the United States. However, there are times when the President can call upon those involved in the National Guard to serve their country.
The issue of authority over the National Guard has led to some interesting disputes, including the issue of power in Washington DC.
Why Does the State Have Control Over the National Guard?
The main reason for state-level control over the National Guard is to ensure that these units serve their state as best they can. They are a vital lifeline in times of trouble, and the State Governor can call them into action to serve their states.
How Do National Guard Units Serve Their State?
There are two main ways that National Guard units help their state in times of crisis. The one that probably comes to mind first is the role of law enforcement. During times of civil unrest, the National Guard troops can come in to help patrol the streets and maintain curfews.
The other role is in the provision of aid during emergency situations. For example, National Guard personnel can gather and head to sites of hurricanes, floods, or wildfires to provide provisions for communities cut off or struggling. This is the lighter side of the National Guard we don’t always see so much about.
Why Does the Commander-in-Chief Have Federal Control Over the National Guard?
There is a need for a power structure where National Guard troops can fall under the authority of federal powers. This is to ensure that the President and wider National Guard Bureau can call upon these state reserve units in times of conflict.
This is where the dual purpose of the National Guard is so important. Away from their state-level role as law enforcement and emergency relief providers, they are also a reserve unit for the armed forces.
Therefore, if the United States were to end up in a major conflict, these National Guard members could make up the numbers.
What Is the Insurrection Act?
The Insurrection Act is a vital piece of legislation ensuring that the President of the United States can federalize the National Guard as needed. The act was signed in 1807 to allow the president greater powers.

The benefit of this is the ability to gain national control over troops, prevent abuses of power, and allow for National Guard members to help the national armed forces. However, there are also concerns that the President could abuse this right themselves.
