I think Gunn is annoyed because he has been consistent since day 1 that MOT is a Superman/Lex story and the other heroes are simply minor roles.

The best example I can give is Civil War. It was a CapAmerica/Ironman film. Everyone else had minor roles.

WW is probably a cameo.

The DCU is interesting. I think too many people were expecting it to consist of direct adaptations of comic stories and their characters. It’s clear now that the DCU is an adaptation of the universe that takes massive liberties and bold swings. Don’t expect anything to be massively faithful, and expect decisions you may not like.

Honestly, I prefer these bold swings over any generic, cookie-cutter direction someone like Greg Berlanti would have taken it. Yeah, some people won’t like them, but in today’s saturated market of comic-book adaptations, big swings were the only way the DCU could carve out its own niche and presence under the shadow of the MCU. The general public needs to know that the DCU offers a very different experience from the MCU if it’s going to survive.

I’m sorry to say it, but that means we won’t get fan-theory versions of how these stories “should” be, or strictly faithful adaptations. You’re not getting an Emerald Twilight or a Blackest Night. Brave and the Bold won’t be exactly like the run. Just remember: the DCU is not the comics. It exists in its own pocket universe, and everything will be different from what you’re used to.
