Last afternoon of the #16DSBS diving into Art & Science. How to connect scientists and the society: from music, to books for children and adults, art pieces and documentaries. #artandscience
Our paper on #hybrid#conferences is online and #OA ! We report our experience as organisers and surveyed participants for feedback. We showed that: 1) organisation is more challenging 1/n

I'm happy to share our latest work on challenges and opportunities of hybrid conferences! https://t.co/BQHMmxE3HH Main message: more work to organize, but more flexibility for participants and overall decreased #carbon#footprint. Will hybrid meetings be the new normal? @16dsbs
Check our latest preprint on the challenges and opportunities to organize #16DSBS, and hybrid conferences in general! https://t.co/kAeSW41tez Many thanks to all #16DSBS survey respondents for their valuable input! @DSBSoc@DeepStewardship
Join our lab and the @BlueRevProject with an 18 month position testing cutting-edge technologies for deep-sea biodiversity studies! Applications are now open!
The #16DSBS survey is open to everyone who participated! The results will be used in a paper on how to organize a hybrid conference & what could be improved for upcoming meetings!
The survey is open until 15.10, check your emails for the link! @DSBSoc
Meet #ISATrainee, Caio Cesar Ribeiro from #Brazil!

Best #ECR poster
@AstridBLeitner from @MBARI_News on "Testing the Seamount Refuge Hypothesis for Predators and Scavengers in the Western #CCZ"
Thanks to all judges for assessing the presentations during #16DSBS and to @quattrinia for her monumental effort in coordinating this
We had two winners during the AGM:
Paper of the Year: @AlexLDavis_ et al. for their work on ultra-black camouflage in #deepsea fishes
https://t.co/5bHnQpE1Mm
#PhD thesis paper: @coralnerd for their work on benthic megafauna on N Pacific Seamounts https://t.co/5yYgcvnoJL
And these are the amazing students & early-career researchers that won presentation awards during #16DBS
Best Student talk
@VIStenvers@NMNH & @GEOMAR_en on "Impacts of global warming and deep-sea mining induced sediment plumes on the mesopelagic medusa Periphylla periphylla"
The #16DSBS has come to an end. We cannot thank all the participants enough for their patience, support and great #deepsea science. Big 🙌 to the @DSBSoc!! We are really looking forward to the #17DSBS in Hong Kong 🇭🇰
Had the pleasure of convening this round-table discussion to close out @16dsbs! The UN's BBNJ treaty, if done well, will aid scientists in their work, expand the community of deep-sea scientists, and make the most of scientific knowledge for effective management - a triple win.
Such a wonderfull experience meeting all of you at the @16dsbs in Brest! Hope we will meet again!
For those with me on La Recouvrance here is Randy the dolphin saying goodbye while he goes to sleep.
