@NewfieVeteran @almurray Incorrect. July 1942, all airborne units received the maroon beret. Glider Pilot Regiment and Parachute Regiment with the AAC badge. Para regiment received their new badge in May 1943 and the Glider Pilot Regiment kept the AAC Badge.

This morning I received a phone call that our last Arnhem glider pilot Veteran Peter Colthup passed away. 7 weeks ago we have celebrated his 103 birthday

He will be missed.
May he rest in peace !!!

@wtbattlefields @Arnhem44Fellow The first to be killed was Glider Pilot Joyce. He forced landed his glider and hit tension cables during his landing causing his death. This was approx 30 minutes before the Double Hills crash.

@CraigEdi @border_scottish Thank you. I emailed a woman who was his daughter, a while ago. This might have been your mother. She told me about a book where he was briefly mentioned, and a photo of him was in the book. I contacted her to see if she could tell me more about him as I couldn't find much info

@MikeHistorian Last week I was over and was surprised to see that most photos are still there I saw two or 3 crosses without. And a few were loose. A friend of mine will put the grass and ace the crosses back and glue the loose photos back on.

@MikeHistorian our other monument, also designed by Chalk has also still the crosses and photos. Photo taken at 12 in the night so I couldn't clean it up. Would most likely have been arrested at that time of the day. LoL
