PUBLIC NOTICE TO THE ETHIOPIAN AND ERITREAN DIASPORA
Mr. #Habtamu_Challa_Gurmu (@Habtishgreat) has reappeared on X after his account was temporarily unavailable. The circumstances of its disappearance remain unclear.
This individual has been the subject of extensive documentation concerning alleged harassment, intimidation, and threats against members of our communities. Most disturbingly, in a recorded public conversation, he claimed to possess individuals' Social Security numbers, driver's license information, and residential addresses. Separate allegations concern threats to release sensitive personal information on the dark web. Such conduct, if substantiated, raises serious concerns about personal safety, privacy, and potential criminal violations.
I have submitted a report to the FBI tip line, and I encourage anyone who has experienced similar threats or possesses relevant evidence to report it to the appropriate authorities.
My sincere thanks to everyone who has already submitted reports, preserved evidence, and helped document these incidents. Please continue this important work responsibly.
Living in a free society carries responsibilities. Among them is the duty to protect law-abiding citizens, particularly women, children, and those subjected to harassment and intimidation. We must remain vigilant, preserve evidence, and allow the appropriate authorities to investigate.

Thank you to everyone standing for accountability, dignity, and the rule of law.

PUBLIC NOTICE TO THE ETHIOPIAN AND ERITREAN COMMUNITIES
Continued Harassment Allegations, Account Suspensions, and a Newly Identified X Account
Friends in the Ethiopian and Eritrean communities are urged to remain vigilant regarding the online activities attributed to Mr. #Habtamu_Challa_Gurmu (@Habtishgreat). His account is currently unavailable on X, following reports of previous suspensions involving @HabtishGurmu, @habtishgurmu, and @gurmuchalla. A newly identified account, Ethio-Music (@MusicdonebyAi), has also been brought to our attention, although its ownership has not been independently verified.
Over time, we have documented and archived recordings, screenshots, and allegations concerning sustained harassment, threats, doxxing, disturbing statements about female genital mutilation and the castration of boys, and claims involving politically motivated violence in Ethiopia. Most recently, a recorded conversation included claims of possessing other individuals' Social Security numbers, driver's license information, and residential addresses. Separate allegations concern threats to distribute personal information on the dark web. These matters warrant serious examination by the appropriate authorities.
We encourage anyone affected to preserve evidence, report credible threats to law enforcement, and report suspected account evasion or harassment directly to X. Please avoid sharing anyone's private information publicly.
Account suspensions do not resolve the underlying concerns. Continued vigilance, responsible documentation, and cooperation with lawful investigations remain essential.
Evidence matters. Accountability matters. Community safety matters.
@X@Safety
Warning ⚠️ Habtamu Gurmu (@Habtishgreat) has obtained another X account, with a trail of previously suspended accounts behind him.
This continues the documented pattern of ban evasion, account reuse for harassment, and impersonation while targeting critics. Public documentation of the full pattern remains available through his own posts.

Please beware that both accounts run by HABTAMU GURMU … where one of the account is impersonating my family and intentional using it to do his dirty work …
Pretoria principles still matter, but both sides failed them. Hundreds of thousands of Tigrayan IDPs remain displaced from Wolkieyt years later. A federal caretaker after military gains ≠ full implementation or resolved peace. @SecRubio@AsstSecStateAF
Ambassador Massinga sat down with The Reporter to discuss the ongoing situation in northern Ethiopia. He underscored that now is the time for Tigray to move ahead with the principles of the Pretoria agreement, including democracy, return of IDPs, restoration of administration, DDR, and humanitarian access. The Ambassador reiterated the United States’ commitment to lasting peace and stability in Ethiopia, the bedrock for economic development and which allows all people to forge their own destinies. You can read the entire interview here: https://t.co/E5ZGPExfF5
I am documenting a sustained campaign of harassment, doxxing, ban evasion, and threats by @Habtishgreat (Habtamu Gurmu Chala, previously suspended as @HabtishGurmu / @habtishgurmu / @gurmuchalla). Documented incidents include posting a Chicago condo address while tagging a critic, sending a DM threatening to put information on the dark web for scammers, and posting a photo of a Ruger pistol while accusing a critic of brandishing a handgun (critic stated it is registered to Gurmu). He has also claimed intelligence ties to the Ethiopian government and has access to sensitive financial and health data through prior employment and a group home. No public FARA registration identified.

Dear Ethiopian and Eritrean diaspora members and friends:
In a free society, no one is above the law. Claims of possessing people’s Social Security numbers and driver’s license information, particularly amid allegations of harassment and intimidation, deserve investigation. I have successfully submitted my concerns to the FBI and am sharing the confirmation here; it took me about 10–15 minutes. If you have personally experienced harassment or have relevant evidence, please report your own account accurately. We follow the law. We document. We archive. We seek accountability through due process.

PUBLIC STATEMENT: SOCIAL SECURITY INFORMATION & POTENTIAL INTIMIDATION
The audio has already been publicly shared. The accompanying transcript attributes to #Habtamu_Challa_Gurmu (@@Habtishgreat) statements claiming possession of Social Security numbers, driver’s license information and residential addresses.
At 00:23, Dr. Chaltu asks, “How did you get the social security?” At 00:28, Elizabeth responds, “You pay... for information, yes.” According to the recording’s provider, Elizabeth has separately described herself publicly as a victim of Habtamu’s disclosure of her personal information. Her response is presented here as a general explanation of how information might be obtained, not an admission of involvement. In context, the exchange raises questions about whether #Habtamu_Challa_Gurmu purchased the information he claimed to possess; it does not establish that a purchase or unlawful access occurred.
The person discussed is identified by the recording’s provider as ሊባሕ (@1JUXA) / @1juxa; that identification has not been independently verified.
Against the reported background of repeated harassment affecting Ethiopian and Eritrean diaspora members in the United States, Canada and Western Europe, these statements warrant careful examination. A claim of possessing sensitive information can raise serious concerns about possible intimidation. The recording alone does not establish actual possession, unlawful acquisition, disclosure, fraud or a dark-web sale.
Affected individuals: please report your own experiences directly. Did someone claim to possess your identification information, disclose it, or use it to intimidate you? Preserve the original messages, recordings, dates and links. Ask investigators to determine whether information was purchased, accessed without authorization or misused. Witnesses, including participants in the conversation, may also have relevant evidence.

.@PMEthiopia@AbiyAhmedAli your cheap incompetent cadres cannot intimidate US. Citizens on US. soil‼️I’ll not be silenced‼️Is your admin providing the same local tactic to diasporas to attack us⁉️ We’ll not stop engaging our US. politicians about your crimes in #Amhara@SecRubio
.@Tikur80s Stop engaging w/me on any level, as your tactic of, “framing” my political views is very clear‼️You’re reacting from my recent tweet👉🏾creating the alarm to @SecRubio@DeptofWar about the incompetent @PMEthiopia you’re worshipping. I will NOT be #Silenced#Intimidated
@Tikur80s Pointing to one militia’s abuses does not erase the federal government’s central role in turning Amhara into a war zone. @KidistBirru is correct to highlight the deaths, internal displacement, and mass interruption of schooling under @PMEthiopia / @AbiyAhmedAli.
Independent reporting (Human Rights Watch, the Ethiopian Human Rights Commission, UN monitors, and others) has repeatedly documented ENDF drone strikes on civilian areas including schools, extrajudicial killings, mass arbitrary arrests, and attacks that have closed or damaged thousands of schools. Millions of Amhara children have been out of school for extended periods because of the conflict environment created by the state’s military campaign.
Any forced punishment or abduction of teachers is indefensible. But framing Amhara Fano as “the Boko Haram of Ethiopia” while ignoring the documented scale of state force, drone strikes, school destruction/occupation, and civilian targeting, is selective. The root disruption Kidist describes stems from the federal response that escalated the fighting after 2023. Amhara civilians continue to bear the heaviest costs. Enough is enough.

ቀደዳን: @Jawar_Mohammed ይቀደዳት! 😭
@Jawar_Mohammed: “Sources close to the matter say a decision has been made to transfer detained Tigrayan leaders from Mekelle to Senafe, Eritrea, including: Lt. Gen. Tadesse Werede.”
Also @Jawar_Mohammed: “I have just been informed that General Tadesse Worede and the other officers have been freed.”
A wonderful and extremely timely article by my friend @NeaminZeleke and one I would urge everyone following the Ethiopia–Eritrea crisis to read carefully.
Much of the current debate treats a rapid Ethiopian breakthrough as a near certainty and moves straight to the aftermath: whether Asmara bargains, whether the regime fractures, whether Assab follows. Neamin steps back one stage earlier and asks the harder question: can that breakthrough itself be taken for granted?
His answer is careful and sobering. Geography is not scenery; it becomes part of the battle. Every advance lengthens supply lines and enlarges the rear that must be protected. Armies are more than equipment tables, and population is not the same as combat power. External pressure can turn a divided society into a united one. And the war of 1998–2000 shows that breaking through prepared defenses is possible, but costly, and that operational success does not automatically become strategic control.
This is a technical argument, grounded in terrain, logistics, military institutions, and history. It rewards slow reading, and much of its value lies between the lines.
In a moment when confident predictions are cheap, this is a valuable reminder that, as the old saying goes, the enemy always gets a vote.
