@TomWright165389@segyges@gfodor@IsaacKing314 This is a discussion for which the language of responsibility is not nuanced enough, bc that engenders b/w thinking - so it's also hard to have on twitter. But at the same time: In shades of gray, Musk is just black here.
@TomWright165389@segyges@gfodor@IsaacKing314 Wrt the actual discussion, the US often does things that affect as many people as much, but very rarely as cheaply. DOGE saved ~no money, which is an essential part of the argument. If Musk had actually saved $2T, we'd be having a different conversation.
@segyges@gfodor@IsaacKing314 No, it's the opposite. Rufo et al think that if you applied the logic behind the counterfactual consistently, you'd have to do way more than just fund USAID. The argument is dumb, but 120 IQ dumb, not 80 IQ dumb.
@Finn000000000@Aella_Girl Left side is the kind of shit I liked when I was 15. I have since grown up.
I didn't pick the right ones that much (except for Saturn), but I almost never clicked the left ones, because for all of them I know better art in their own genre. They're mid at what they are.
@Aella_Girl Also man, "pick your favorite artwork" is an incredibly difficult task. Don't really know that this one is definitely it, although it's up there.
@tracewoodgrains I picked Strong Disagree on We should run our country more like China. I got Xi. Makes me think some trolling might indeed be going on.
@stringlandscape@LinkofSunshine My impression in Germany is that increasing numbers of private people buy ACs, but it'll be a minute until we can outvote the heroic self sacrificers enough to make AC acceptable. We're converting people one heat wave at a time.
@neipate96@Timthoughtsdot@typeclonghouse I don't have the address anymore, because the place is no longer on AirBnB, but I think this was the spot: https://t.co/PVsBG1ZsPm
@neipate96@Timthoughtsdot@typeclonghouse Fits in with the Cali roads being fine too.
I was shocked because we had looked up median income for where we were staying on Long Island and it was over 90k, and the roads from there to the Only City in the Worldโข were awful.
Upstate wasn't great, but that's understandable.
@Timthoughtsdot@typeclonghouse Driving around Cali in '14 was fine, but I was shocked by the state of the roads in NY state, particularly going from Long Island to NYC
@Timthoughtsdot@typeclonghouse Or "they" are blown away by it because nobody makes posts about Europeans who don't raise an eyebrow at 24h shopping. I've been to America twice, and some things were genuinely nicer, but a lot is either mundane, bafflingly different, or worse (roads).
