On August 4, the steering committee of the Global Sumud Flotilla held a press conference to announce a historic mission: dozens of flotillas organized from 44 countries around the world, filled with aid and headed to Gaza in an effort to break Israel's illegal siege.

Our leaders have failed us, and despite all the political theater, most governments have shown they have no desire to help the starving men, women, and children.

But we are not helpless. Ordinary people from all over the globe are stepping up to do what politicians refuse to do: to help end the starvation, end the genocide, and bring justice to the Palestinian people.
