There’s a 17 floor building coming up next to my house, I have no strength to ask why? But one thing I know for sure is that the zoning laws haven’t been officially changed from 4 floors in my area, but permits are being issued based on a proposed zoning laws & regulations, but are not allegedly passed for implemented. Please someone correct me if I’m wrong?!

Now the dispute is that the building is to be built up to
the boundary, yet the existing law requires a 6 meter space from the boundary if I not wrong, but hey… the county government must collect revenue, they don’t care whose life they affect.
As long as they get revenue.

The town planner I have met or spoken to seem like they are fighting for the right thing to be done, but are defeated and frustrated, but to all of us, they bear the blame. I attended a public forum where the town planners discussed the blatant disregard of the advice the give and the town planners vision for Nairobi.
My street 10 years ago had a population of less than 1,000 today we must be more than 6,000, in another two-five years we will be 15,000-30,000, yet the infrastructure is the same as 20 years ago, we understand developments must take place, We must change with time, but some level of control within existing regulations must be followed, should the regulations be changed to meet the demand, then let the county government improve the infrastructure first, water, electricity, sewage & roads to mitigate the traffic that will follow the growing population.
We have a school on top of all this with 300 students being built, an new mall and ten apartment blocks of apartments coming up each averaging 200 apartments and several noise bars & clubs. This a complete mess happening and more waiting to happen.
Our leaders and lawmakers need to do better.
