In December 2023, in Lagot village, Kitgum District, northern Uganda, UPDF soldiers and civilians tortured Nelson Omon, accused of stealing a motorcycle.
They tied his hands and legs, suspended him from a window and flogged him repeatedly with sticks while demanding a confession.
Even as he pleaded to be untied and allowed to explain himself, the beating continued.
Let that sink in.
Men entrusted with weapons, uniforms and public authority turned them against a helpless civilian.
An accusation is not a conviction. Suspects belong in court, not suspended from windows and beaten into confessions.
Four soldiers were later convicted of aggravated torture, dismissed from the army and sentenced to one year in prison.

Simple description of Uganda at 64: a sad truth, yes, and this is the reality we find ourselves in. What a shame to be born under such ugly, dictatorial administration. Yet, amidst all these challenges, we continue to strive, remain hopeful, and stand proud of our country. Uganda is bigger than its leadership, and despite the struggles we face, our love for our nation remains unshaken.
I LOVE YOU MAAMA UGANDA 🇺🇬 THE PEARL OF AFRICA ✊🏾
“My friend Faizo Tamale was untouchable at State House - he passed security checkpoints like he owned the place. His call logs? Full of Gen. Birungi. Now he's vanished, and his wife is running to us asking where he is. If this continues, how many more Mabongas will rise from the army?” ~Gabriel Buule~
This is what is going on in Uganda “torture chambers” at the hands of those men in uniforms who supposed to protect its citizens.

The SWAT team thought he was trapped. Then he disappeared beneath the water.
With nowhere left to run, a fugitive dives into a massive river and discovers a hidden way to breathe underwater. But just as the search closes in, an even deadlier threat enters the river—a crocodile.
Now he’s trapped beneath the surface with danger coming from both sides.
Will he make it out alive?
