If Jeff Bezos could afford to spend $75 million on the Melania movie & $500 million for a yacht to sail off to his $55 million wedding to give his wife a $5 million ring, please don't tell me he needed to fire one-third of the Washington Post staff.
Democracy dies in oligarchy.
I was among the many sports reporters laid off by The Washington Post today. Feeling a lot of gratitude for my time working for this paper.
Not looking back. Looking ahead to what’s next!
I was laid off by The Washington Post today. This is gutting for our readers and our section, but I’m grateful for the 4 years I had to cover sports alongside friends and legends.
If you’re hiring or know of someone who is: spencernusbaum(at)gmail(dot)com
If nothing else, I’ve always hoped our work in the Washington Post’s sports section could give readers a meaningful connection to (and understanding of) something bigger than themselves.
I’ve seen today: It has. Forever grateful to be a part of this team. #SaveThePost
The Washington Post has the best sports section in the country, and I don’t think it’s particularly close. Only a soulless corporate goon would think the paper is better without it. A short-sighted, cowardly decision. Shame is your legacy.
This makes me really sad b/c, if the AI is really good at physics instruction, that is because there are decades of really decent, smart people putting millions of pages of writing out trying to help physics students understand physics a little better
Also, because 2/3 of the US population lives within these 100 mile border zones (100 miles from any external boundary of the US, not only land borders), this is important for everyone to read:

The Laken Riley Act will allow ICE to detain someone if they are *accused* - not convicted - of a crime. Rampant abuse is inevitable. And it's a slippery slope. They start here, you think they'll stop? They want to remove everyone's due process. This is an absurd abuse of power.
went to a restaurant recently that was playing all AI generated songs. inoffensive shitty pop music with bizarre lyrics if you paid attention. that's the future these people want: a bland artless world filled with sounds and images made by robots
