In so many ways this is such a disheartening thread. Yet, I am thankful for this kind of diligence and faithfulness to Biblical Christianity in the public square.
For the record, this is the man Keller told us offered a “brilliant example of how to be Christian in the public square.”
This is why I say concern regarding the inability Keller sometimes had to rightly discern a sound Christian witness from an unsound one is justified.
It’s the same issue he ran into with his promotion of Francis Collins and Greg Johnson. So it wasn’t just what Keller taught himself that was sometimes an issue, it was also those he recommended we learned from.
Hello, @NCGOP candidates, and current representatives in the @NCLeg!
North Carolinians deserve to know.
Do YOU stand in the winds of change with @scottklusendorf, or will you stand with @EPNC25 on God's infallible Word in support of Equal Protection under Law for our pre-born?
Although, "someone cheated or fooled by another" seems categorically to include anyone who may choose according to a prevailing and deceptive messaging.
By definition, you can’t be a victim of your own choice. You can be victimized by someone or something else—not yourself.
And yes—age and reflection bring us wisdom on our own choices, mistakes, and what we might have done differently with the knowledge we have today.
That’s life and hindsight is 20/20.
Yes—we should absolutely be sharing that wisdom with younger generations.
I’m a mom and a huge fan of motherhood. I would encourage any young women to embrace having children.
But I absolutely disagree with victim narratives—including the emerging narrative where women view themselves as victims of their own choices, as much as I empathize for anyone disappointed with choices they’ve made, particularly in regrets over choosing to not have kids. That is very sad.
By this logic, making choices different from the evil messages of prevailing culture renders that evil* neutral.
Consider: "Many whites heard the same messages of racially inferior chattel and made different choices."
*Evil - Thoughts, words, and deeds opposite God's purposes.
@nettle_heavy@larissaphillip We live in America where we all have the freedom to make choices. Many women have heard the same messages and made different choices.
An interesting challenge.
The institutions named, however, are culturally dominated by Marxists, mostly of the Gramsci mindset and the Frankfurt school.
This challenge belongs to Reformed and Kuyperian disciples of Jesus.
"Hollywood" sphere challenge accepted! @WatchStuDEO
“Young liberals” are alarmingly illiberal. The culturally dominant institutions of the US—schools, universities, the media, Hollywood—should all take a hard look at the values they are instilling in youth.
It is legal in all 50 states via abortion pills by mail.
Abolish abortion. Enact Equal Protection Laws in all 50 states and all territories.
Let's begin here @EPNC25@EqualProtectGA@EPSouthCarolina
This is baby Charvi Matthews, who was born at 22 weeks.
It's legal to kill babies at 22 weeks in abortions in over half the states.
Abortions kill babies. We must end abortion.
What I would give for the opportunity to see LeBron take his place in the video pantheon of incredibly talented players recounting how Larry Bird told them where he would go, when he would shoot, and how they could not stop him...then taunt mercilessly afterwards...but alas!
All of you need to stop pretending or start watching the game.
I didn’t want to accept LeBron as the GOAT. But it’s undeniable.
Honestly, it’s been undeniable for 10 years.
Thanks for calling out these theater-of-the-absurd kinds of posts!
Unfortunately, these real "stupid" people exhibit a profound spiritual blindness.
Scripture calls this "foolishness."
Luck has no person. No person is defined by their borders or boundaries.
We are, everyone of us, defined by the holy, just, merciful, and living Creator who formed us in the womb, and by our relationship to him through Christ.
This isn't abstract theology. It is the difference between despair in randomness and chaos created by human sinfulness, and a sure and certain confidence "that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose." ~Romans 8:28
The Japanese railway privatization of 1987 stands as one of the most devastating defeats ever dealt to statist transportation mythology. The government split the bloated Japan National Railways into seven regional companies, sold them off, and watched private ownership transform a bankruptcy-bound disaster into the world's most efficient rail system.
JNR hemorrhaged money for decades before privatization. By 1987, the state railway carried debt equivalent to $200 billion in today's money while delivering mediocre service plagued by strikes and inefficiency. Politicians treated it as a jobs program rather than a transportation service. The predictable result: chronic losses, deteriorating infrastructure, and customer service that reflected government monopoly arrogance.
Private ownership changed everything overnight. The new JR companies slashed operating costs by 40% within five years while dramatically improving service quality. JR East alone now generates annual profits exceeding $3 billion. These companies invest billions in cutting-edge technology, maintain punctuality rates above 99%, and operate the world's most advanced high-speed rail networks. They achieved this without a single yen of operational subsidies.
The transformation reveals a core dynamic of transportation infrastructure: private companies must satisfy customers to survive, while government monopolies need only satisfy politicians. JR companies diversified into real estate, retail, and hospitality around their stations, creating integrated profit centers that cross-subsidize rail operations. Government railways never innovate this way because bureaucrats face no market pressure to generate returns.
Meanwhile, Amtrak burns through $2 billion in annual subsidies while delivering third-world service across most routes, and European state railways require massive taxpayer bailouts every few years to stay solvent.
Just bustin' chops!
I totally get that, allowing folk to wax and wane.
As you think of me, pray for a few major life events! We're new foster parents (2.5 months in!). Launching a startup. Destructive water-event mitigation at home. Navigating dad's life post-catastrophic stroke.
I hope to be back among participating soon! 😇🙏
I saw this article today (see replies below for link) and am wondering whether our Representatives in the @NCLeg are aware of possibilities here. Let's start this conversation.
My cofounder and I are about to launch an original story engine/production flywheel we call the @WatchStuDEO app! We'd welcome an opportunity to generate real revenue here in the First in Freedom state!
What do you think, @RobertBurns82 and @JonAlmond4NC73?
There exists a fear of the world that is palpable and irrational.
We can be thankful this couple has the courage of their conversion...and the Good News that "God loves you. So Jesus died for you."
Yes! He died for every sin you have committed, no matter how shameful!
In him, though your sins are as stark and filthy as crimson, you are whiter than snow!
We need life and liberty affirming entertainment grounded in the True, Good, and Beautiful!
The UNDERSERVED Faith, Family, and Freedom MARKET (That's YOU, ticket and subscription buying America!) deserves a consistent pipeline of movies and shows!
@WatchStuDEO is building it!
Netflix uses profit from their subscription service to pay for their employees to travel to get abortions and "gender affirming care".
Remember, we vote with our wallets every day.
