@Sir_LongStride It’s not to make money, but the point of the collective “we” paying for school is to set them on a path to be self sufficient. That isn’t happening.

@juliabice10 How did you make that about women? It doesn’t make those degrees any easier or harder, just that the federal government isn’t underwriting them any longer. It’ll probably make them cheaper without the federal money pumped in.

@lilifoxUwU Benefits the students. We have an entire generation of Americans that are stuck in a student debt rat wheel because we made loans too easy to get (also made tuition skyrocket, like anything the feds dump money into). Now that generation wants more money for loan “forgiveness.”

@autumncardigan So… the solution to spending too much on a degree that doesn’t pay for itself, is to spend 50x as much to subsidize the low performing jobs? That logic doesn’t logic.

Just stop incentivizing people to go into those programs and let the system sort itself out.

Luckily, in a free country, you’re able to spend your own money on whatever you’d like, so those degrees are yours for the buying and studying.

Just from reading Kelly Johnson and Ben Rich’s books, which probably barely scratch the surface… tires, fuel, the start carts for the motors, the motors themselves… and then some wicked coffin corners airborne… unstarts. All that was built using machining techniques that they invented or custom built themselves. The oversized mill for titanium. The plumbing and extra tanks in KC-135 to bring special fuel. You’re talking about resurrecting an entire ecosystem of parts supply chains and pilot training… for one airplane. One beautiful, sinister, gorgeous airplane.

Those taxes would be higher than a freshman on dirty 6th, and all the business we’ve seen flow into the state will be destroyed.

@PAstynome Only if those colleges raise STEM tuition to cover the liberal arts degrees.

Otherwise, those departments will just downsize to accommodate the number of non subsidized students that remain in those majors.
