It’s clear that the administration ended Haitian TPS without adequately following the legal process. Since the Court could not plausibly defend that failure, they shielded the administration from legal review, setting a dangerous precedent that should alarm all Americans. We will join with all those who support the Constitution in denouncing their decision in the streets, at the ballot box, and by any legal means available. 3/3

We urge the administration to immediately reverse course and restore TPS protections for Haitians, Syrians, and others, and keep families together and safe. We also urge members of Congress to immediately support legislation, such as Senator @SenAlexPadilla's registry bill (S. 2468), that provides a path to permanent residence and citizenship to long-term residents. And we do this while continuing to decry the injustice of this decision. 2/3

I join with countless others to express outrage and grief at the Supreme Court’s decision today giving the Trump Administration uncheckable power to upend the lives of TPS recipients. Those recipients include thousands of our union members from Boston to Miami who maintain everything from airports to downtown offices, plus countless others working in senior care, childcare, construction, food service, and more. Our union was among the plaintiffs that successfully stopped DHS from ending Haitian TPS back in August, when we argued that a clear racial animus towards Black immigrants motivates this administration’s improper if not illegal actions. Even the current U.S. State Department has officially found that Haiti is too unsafe to visit, and Judge Reyes repeatedly notes that Secretary Noem completely failed to follow the law’s requirements to evaluate conditions in the home country before terminating TPS. 2/4

We applaud Judge Reyes for her thorough and extremely forceful rejection of DHS Secretary Kristi Noem’s attempt to end TPS for hundreds of thousands of Haitians, including many hundreds of our union’s members. Although we fully expect the Trump administration to appeal the ruling, we are relieved by this reprieve and renewed in our determination to continue fighting against all unjust TPS terminations. 1/4
