random sports:
- credit to Mitch for making some adjustments. think we will see more Keldon J. and more fox running the offense. Wemby stays on hart daring him to take and make threes is a winning strategy + guarding Brunson for as much of the court as possible
- the non-americans in US content for the World Cup will be the story of the summer and help remind the world that this is the greatest country in ze world. I have France winning it all (fun non-us team to root for: Senegal)
- still gutted over the CL final. I thought after going up 1 goal we played near perfect. big summer for the gun. midfield super logjam if we bring in Rogers. need more fullback depth. would not be surprised to see 2 of eze, ode, nwaneri, dowman sold or on loan if rogers comes in. want 2 new wingers in please
- my gut is that the heat just don't have enough to trade for Giannis. I must say this very clearly, if you have the chance to get him with spo/bam you do it. everything else can and will be figured out. no one can do more with less than spo
- excited to re-watch Kyrgios match but from what I briefly just saw he looked very composed and played within himself??? hopefully he gets a WC for wimby - think he can do damage
- the wide open French open was not as fun for me as watching a guaranteed sinner/alcaraz final. especially resulting in a Zverev win
- nadal Netflix doc was a bit sad. guy dealt with pain his *entire* career. his team (especially und) very old school run athlete into ground, ignore all mental health (clear OCD/anxiety). maybe some balance that could have made playing days more fun but almost certainly not more successful. Rafa absolute dog/legend
something worth internalizing: most things you think you can't do only exist between your ears. and the worst case of truly going for something and "failing" is still a pretty good outcome
Arsenal fan here. I think that the time wasting isn’t really unique to the team. and they got burned (quite unfairly) via the corner at end of half and Mosquera yellow
I agree it’s not easy on the eye but it’s very difficult to play so compact and be so mentally tough vs psg for as long as we did
not sure if they’re the better team but they outplayed us yesterday
amazing weekend in NYC. lots of tennis (first time on grass!), drinks, friends, food
after 5 yrs out west, being with my friends in nyc more regularly has exceeded my own expectations. did a good job staying in touch on the phone/facetime but being in person is 100x better
sounds deranged to say this, but one of my favorite parts about running is being outside without my phone
even when playing other sports outside (hoops, bball) or walking, my phone is with me. inevitably it gets checked. even if it doesn't there's still some phone tax/tension
convinced that millions (formerly me) suffer from some form of orthosomnia which is where sleep disruptions/anxiety stem from obsessively tracking sleep data
we will not let a made up daily sleep/recovery score impact our lives. we will not become slaves to the algo. amen
@justalexoki for me because less rest between warmup + working sets vs. working set 1 -> 2. and some mental confidence of I already moved this weight x many times
<5 min mi
- it's all about logging miles. which I have not done. this is going to change bc friend joined this challenge - he is a worthy opp (ran a 5:57 already) will help me really focus and take this seriously
- trying to have easy runs <150bpm is this still too high @runliftrunlift@Brady_H ?? remember i'm in dog shit running shape (have run <5 times all year). although the below run <150 bpm was a ton of fun and genuinely relaxing
- goal is to run 2x per week for 2 weeks, 3x week 3 weeks and try to settle at 4x running 3 easy x 1 hard and re-run my next mile in a few months
- still playing too much bball and tennis
- still getting unreasonably sore post running
- doing more SL and isometric work in the gym
- need to work on making my hips stronger, feel like a limiting factor
- taking 1 day off per week minimum (proud of myself for this)
i'm so happy for super mik arteta and the boys. all forever legends of the club (and with one more win forever legends of the premier league)
pure torture at points this year, and a huge relief to see this group and this manager become legends
it's weird to not only support but to genuinely love a team so far away. this is a special group of athletes and coaches
I'm admittedly new in terms of fandom but not in passion. I have not suffered 22 years for this title, but want to hug everyone who has
a few special shoutouts to people who have really won my heart and are in the tier of all time sports people:
- super mik arteta: for continuing to do things his way, with class, and unwavering determination. without him, none of this is possible
- william saliba: for being the consummate professional, a player who fights his ass off for the badge, and the best CB in the world
- martin odegaard: for battling bad injury luck, with grace, ignoring the noise that he should lose the armband, and leading his own way. forever the captain of a premier league champion side
- bukayo saka: for being so resilient, having all of the pressure in the world on his shoulders, dealing with so much failure and adversity at such a young age, and still playing with childlike joy
- declan rice: for leading by example on the field, and giving everything, every game, no matter what. a never ending engine
ONE MORE. COYG
@ablaze_rell@NoTechBen you shouldn't, they have the assets to blow any team out of the water with their package. i'm just saying the national response to giannis going to OKC will be more like KD to GSW than ben is implying
wcf g1
- highest level hoops since '16 finals. demoralizing for rest of nba
- wemby had '12 ecf g6 bron mentality. best player in the world right now (was clear in Oct)
- dylan harper is lefty cade + better defense??
- want more j-dub on wemby. castle great on SGA
- no need to watch ECF
fasted workouts = ultimate self harm*
- in morning, my cortisol is already peaking, and now I have energy demands of ~1hr 45min of bball, 6am tip off
- because there is nothing in my system, my body is using my own muscle tissue into glucose as fuel to get me through these sessions
- this is a massive tax for my body to pay, even worse if i'm not optimally recovered (never am)
- over time, what does this mean???
+ muscle loss despite training hard aka negaGAINZ
+ chronic fatigue, poor HRV, accumulated stress
+ increased injury risk
+ harder to teach new motor control patterns
*one caveat is if you're doing a cardio ONLY workout z2 or below this is ok to be fasted. this is because you're mostly fat burning (caveat to the caveat you have to really know your zones (ideally your lactate) to be sure about this))
