This is a really dumb take. Yeah, if you are too stupid to create a private small datacenter for your company for local inference, then it is clearly not for you. With $250k you can create a STELLAR fuckin local setup. The key is, only key engineers need access to it. No API's no spilling IP over the cloud. One investment. I do agree that the Boomers went head over heels though and jumped right into the deep end of a jello-filled pool. Thats what technocrat boomers do. Exciting tech blinds them, their greed blinds them even more. AI will not slow down. It is just going to pivot, as you said. Local inference is the only way.

Lmfao.. 35GB for a dense 70b.. That would be the day.. Nobody wants heavy quants. You need to quant still just to fit on a SINGLE RTXPro 6k. So. Ideally, you want 150-160GB if you want an unquantized dense 70b with decent KV size. You can start to reduce a bit depending on your rolling context and compression techniques.
