What I want to distinguish is: was it a good horror film back then but turned increasingly bad to newer audience, or was it just a bad film to begin with?

Of course, I don't expect people 1000 years in the future would fully understand a horror film of our time but that's more of cultural gap problem, like we wouldn't even get the fart joke in Old English.

@biggestjoel @Solar_Sas @STANN_co It depends on your cosmology, I've been reading Nagel lately, he rejected materialist naturalism (facts and values are distinct) and theism (facts and value are one), and proposed/returned to natural teleolgy: there's only natural stuff but values are nonetheless objective.

I see this more so as a weather vane for our society than actually taking these people seriously.
