San Francisco is already horrendously over-budgeted: $16B for ~850k people is more than any major county in world.
If you care about efficiency and good governance you should categorically vote No on any tax or bond.
beautiful and tragic. Market St, mid-1990s. look how clean it was! thriving stores, shoppers, private cars. now it's all gone. this is why elections are so important.
The passage of Measure A is a clear affirmation that San Franciscans want to invest in western and southern firefighting capability but were duped into supporting financial idiocy that allows @SFMTA_Muni to continue to operate in a wholly irresponsible way. There’s no need for the extra expense of making the Potrero Yard more vertical, except that Melgar wants SFMTA to become developers.
You know, because they run MUNI so well. 🙄
@GuardAmerican@VoteandChangeSF@Scott_Wiener@MHurabiell Based on endorsements doesn’t look like the Chinese community is too thrilled to vote for Chan either. They know Marie has fought for what’s important to their community for years bc she did it alongside them in the trenches. Go Marie!
"As mayor there's no more handing out clean needles, no more pipes. My police will arrest you if you're handing paraphernalia to drug addicts. So that's done."
-- @spencerpratt
It is absurd that San Francisco does this. We needed a Spencer Pratt and we got a lightweight Daniel Lurie.
If Pratt gets elected all of Los Angeles' junkies are heading up our way, get ready for it.
@DanielLurie shut this down now.
When the last World Cup was hosted in Qatar, a country with a minimum 7 year prison sentence with the option of the death penalty for gay sex, @sfchronicle published an op-ed claiming it was “Western bias” to criticize Qatar.
Deeply unserious paper.
The only candidate who acknowledged the injured SFPD officer - the other candidates are too narcissistic, self-absorbed, and disdainful of law enforcement to even give it a thought.
Three of the top four congressional candidates stood by Chesa Boudin when San Francisco voted to recall him. Only one stood with San Francisco.
On Tuesday, we have a chance to put her in the race for congress.
Vote Marie Hurabiell.
Doug Ellin, the creator of Entourage, just went off on California’s leadership for completely running Los Angeles into the ground.
It’s everything you’d expect… and then some 😂 This man has me missing that show so bad right now!
He urged people to get out and vote for @spencerpratt and @TeamSteveHilton for change. 👏🔥
Nithya’s been in office for 6 years. She’s saying this 6 days before she loses an election? These feckless politicians HAVE A RECORD. Nithya did NOTHING as Hollywood fell into the abyss over the last few years, and now she wants you to believe she suddenly cares? She thinks you’re dumb. Of course CA has to have competitive tax credits, but a massive portion of our film/tv industry relies on commercial work. They don’t utilize tax credits. They just need filming to be easier and safer in LA. They need LA to be nicer, and less disgusting. Many agencies and independent filmmakers have left LA simply because they don’t like *living* here anymore. It’s not fun anymore. Even the wealthy cast members of Nithya’s husband’s show have moved out of CA. Nobody likes living under Nithya’s leadership. She rolled into town a few years ago, knowing nothing about LA, decided she should tell us how to live, and she’s absolutely killed the soul of our city. If we want Hollywood to return, we need to make LA a nice place for our filmmakers to live and work. And the city needs to roll out the red carpet for productions. Karen and Nithya treat productions like a nuisance, and they’ve killed our golden goose. When I’m Mayor, I will pull out ALL the stops to eliminate every lame reason that makes filming in LA a pain in the neck. Quick, cheap, easy permitting. Easy parking approvals. Dedicated LAPD patrols in filming hotspots to ensure crew safety. No more addicts roving around the streets. Slashing fees. We need to win back these productions, and tax credits aren’t enough to do it.
When I was in my 20’s I was on a TV show. When Karen Bass was in her 20’s, she was training in terrorist tactics and guerrilla warfare with communists in Cuba. Back when the LA Times was still in LA, and used to tell the truth…
I believe San Francisco is the best city on earth and clearly on the rise.
The streets are cleaner, crime is down, and we're all enjoying the sunshine again.
Don't forget that SF voted 65/35 in favor of Prop 36 to get a handle on crime.
Scott opposed it.
Connie opposed it.
Marie was on the frontlines of PASSING IT.
Vote for sanity. Vote for continued progress. VOTE FOR MARIE.
San Francisco needs the right leadership in Washington DC. Not someone who stood with Chesa Boudin or thinks fentanyl dealers are victims, or someone who stands with Hasan Piker. That's why I support @MHurabiell for Congress. There's still time.
While Karen Bass is worried about getting meth-heads new grills, the LAFD has 3 dozen LESS firefighters than we had when the Palisades Fire hit. Folks, you need to vote like your life depends on it, because it does.
This is what Daniel Lurie did in SF and it has been in credibly effective. Lurie had no political experience prior to becoming Mayor and we were OK with that because we trusted him to be an independent voice and to hire the right people from private sector and demand results from public sector. This is not an answer to your question but I hope this strategy works for Pratt and LA. It absolutely can be done. 🙏
This kind of statement to young people - “the world my generation left you, is a real mess” - has produced very real anxiety and nihilism in GenX. From a young age my now twenty-something kids constantly got this message at school. I thought at time that is damaging and simply a way for teachers and admins to assuage their own guilt in some way or an entree to indoctrinating on climate change and other issues. There has to be a better way to teach resilience and belief in something bigger than yourself than through guilt and helplessness.
