@CanadianForces@RCAF_ARC Another example of CAF social media not doing basic research. Wood was born in Montreal to Canadian parents. Working for the United Fruit Company does not make you Latin American.
It took me about 15 mins to figure out Rifleman Wheeler wasn’t Colombian (service file and google search) CAF social media doesn’t seem interested in correcting their error. Feel free to let them know that historical accuracy matters.
Rifleman James Clinton Wheeler’s story is one of heroic sacrifices. Originally from El Centro, Infantas, Municipio de Barrancabermeja, Santander, Colombia, he enlisted in the @Canadianarmy in Toronto, on July 19, 1943. #LatinAmericanHeritageMonth 1/4
@CanWarMuseum You refused my wife and daughter free entry into the CWM because I (a serving member) wasn't present. You need to revisit this policy. Military families make incredible sacrifices so that we can serve and they should be granted independent free access to the CWM.
@JoaodosReisAlb1@glenparry8183 Definitely not. The uniform was specifically selected from the interwar period as Canadians adopted British uniforms during the SWW. It’s Canadian through and through. Just like the pic of Crerar wearing it in the 1930s.
