I wrote a magical realist story about enforced disappearances in Sri Lanka, intergenerational trauma and grief. But REALLY, it's about a daughter and her mother. Thank you to #RewriteReads for providing such a good home to my tale.

79 parents of the disappeared have died since the protests began in 2017. Dying with their demands ignored and not knowing the fates of their loved ones.
This week, families of the disappeared in #Vavuniya marked 1,460 days of continued roadside protest whilst families marched for justice in #Kilinochchi.
The protesters marched bearing ‘thee-chatti’ (fire-pot) - clay pots containing live coals - on their heads, performing a traditional Tamil practice of penance or vow-fulfilment.
