Psychiatric Nurses Association announce 6,000 members will strike in February amid their dispute over pay and staff shortages. They will initially refuse to work overtime on 31st January, or on 5th, 6th and 7th February before full strikes 12, 13, and 14 February.

Gardaí in Lucan are appealing for witnesses after a 31-year-old man who was walking home from work in Castle Riada area of Lucan Co. Dublin was approached and assaulted by four teenagers. He was brought to Connolly Memorial Hospital with facial injuries. Lucan Gardaí 01 666-7300.

Gardaí in Co. Louth are investigating the discovery of the body of a woman at a house in Ardee, Co. Louth by Gardaí shortly after 11.30am this morning. The house has been sealed off and the State Pathologist has been notified. No arrests have been made thus far.

Skeletal remains were found in Co Wexford this morning at Ballyandrew, near Ferns by a woman walking her dog. It's understood the remains were out in a ditch. Gardai says it's too early to determine if there is anything suspicious or to establish the age or gender.

Disgraced actor Kevin Spacey is due to appear in court charged with indecently assaulting an 18-year-old man in 2016. Former Boston TV anchor Heather Unruh accused the former @HouseofCards actor of sexually assaulting her son in a crowded bar, where the teen worked as a busboy.

Investigations into cause of train crash in Denmark that killed six people and injured 16 others is underway. It happened during a heavy storm on the Great Belt Bridge. A passenger train had to brake suddenly after it was hit by tarpaulin from a passing freight train.

3. The Volkswagen Jetta was then found burnt out at Rusheeney Crescent Clonee, Dublin 15 at 7pm. Gardaí are appealing to anyone with information of seeing people fleeing from this car or any other suspicious activity in the Rusheeney area in the days leading up to this murder.
