Vlog 2 of my UK Trip series is now up!
This one features my time at the Severn Valley Railway Spring Steam Gala back in April, as well as a little bit of the ThinkTank Science Museum in Birmingham.

@Andre_85_HIR An early Fowler rebuilt in May 35. The details I'm trying to double-check but the notion of the one-off being a test bed for the Stanier Mk1 doesn't hold water as the 1st Vulcan Black Fives were built in 34 & Crewe's No.5000 with the rebuilt flat Stanier entered service March 35.
John Lee, the modelmaker who designed & constructed two identical Hank props, shared this behind the scenes picture of both props on his portfoilo website. There are 2 distinctions between Hank A and B, with Hank A featuring a higher cab roof and chip in the front running board
@crikey_fell Basic thing is he does have a MAKER, Avonside
Beyond that, he’s a hodge podge of different bits from here and there on top lol
The main thing is STOP WITH THE SWINDONING
lol
Lee Pressman:
- Writes Gordon & Spencer
- Gets fired
- Comes back 10 years later
- Writes JINTY & PUG into Series 21
- Has his episode cancelled
- Resigns a year later
- Comments on one of Cam’s videos
- Only CGI writer to meet Awdry
Pressman sure is the something
In the same breath, people should respect creators who decide to not release their models of characters because of this exact reason, instead of demanding it.
Some, not all, will allow you to use their character if you make your own model of them, which is honestly pretty fair.
Art is the expression of an artist's creativity.
There's a huge difference between accepting someone's imperfections in what they created, and ignoring the uncomfortable truth of a creator's harmful behavior just to enjoy what they made.
A good chunk of you do the latter.
Just discovered the existence of this thing and its absolutely crazy!
A shay in the UK- used to shunt steel wagons no less!!
Apparently it only ran for 12 years though bc parts were hard to find and it didnt rlly fit the needs of the company!
people didn't use it as an excuse to get rid of an "unpopular character"
What made him an "unpopular character" Was his creator becoming a fucking pedophile that victimized a 2-year-old
A criminal who did shit to his own kids does not deserve to be remembered, let alone his work to still be used, in a fandom for a kids show full of kids. That's the relation.
He lost everyone's respect for what he did. Get over your nostalgia and leave him in the past.
@AntCoulls@RailwayMuseum I was wondering why the Teak was undergoing refurbishment when I visited in April. Fitting to see it behind Mallard, both of LNER origin.
Looks like Sodor Productions is being a scumbag yet again stealing content (mine) and using it for his own personal gain. No asking if could use it or even linking it to mine. If people could report it to YouTube that would be appreciated. #Thomas
Try to do the best you can to show up and give new creators a chance.
I’ve been around here for almost 15 years. It’s been a privilege to see how so many creatives have grown and flourished with exposure and encouragement.
@shunting_yard Meanwhile, I've been using whistle sounds closer to their IRL basis' rather than the TVS stuffs. It's what I prefer, after all, and changes things up a bit.
I believe that some peeps are taking the wrong notes from The Video Workshop. They want to create equally iconic moments with song choices and effects, but I don't think they understand why those scenes worked, outside of the visuals and music.
It's the timing and writing. 🧵
The Hank A model has a small chip in the front running board which was present during filming. It is one way to differentiate both Hank models which were used interchangeably to film the episode Heave Ho Thomas.
