In SIDS, the transport sector absorbs the largest share of infrastructure damage from extreme weather events. These damages interrupt economic activity and prevent access to essential goods and services.
This blog draws on STA25 chapter “Transport” by Sean Michaels and Maria Cordeiro ( @WorldBank ); With thanks for leadership and guidance to Sudeshna Ghosh Banerjee and Benedict L.J. Eijbergen (WB), and for review to Satoshi Ogita, Atsushi Iimi, Malaika Becoulet, and Nicholas James Callender (WB) — with thanks to them and our valued partners for their contribution to this important work.
