Vitamin B2 (Riboflavin) may be an effective treatment for sport-related concussions🧠
A daily intake of 400mg vitamin B2 led to an average recovery time of 10 days after concussion…
…compared to an average of 22 days in the placebo group 👈
Contact sport athletes take note📝
A PCSK9-inhibitor (PCSK9i) is a medication that increase the number of docking stations (LDLRs) on the cell membrane being available for docking. This results in fewer Red Buses driving around and hence fewer passengers.
Does this work?
hence more LDL-buses driving around.
Statins block the production of cholesterol in the liver cells (for the most part). The liver makes fewer passengers for the Red LDL-buses and there are fewer passengers in circulation.
an open docking station.
The liver also makes a special guide for LDL and Lp(a) called PCSK9. The number of docking stations available (LDLRs) is regulated by a controller enzyme called PCSK9. The more PCSK9 there is, the lower the number of LDLRs and
Once the LDL-bus is attached to the LDLR, the whole complex is taken back inside the cell and dismantled. The dismantled part can be reassembled at a later stage.
The Red LDL-buses get VIP-access to the docking stations, leaving the Red Lp(a)-buses driving around until there is
The liver is constantly making new LDLRs and dismantling old LDLRs. It makes new LDLRs inside the cell and when the cell receives the right signal it will move the LDLR from inside the cell to the outside of the membrane to be available as a docking station.
them back to the liver.
The liver cells make docking stations on its cell membranes called LDL receptors (LDLRs) for Red LDL-buses to be docked and then be taken up inside for overnight parking. Hence taking LDL-buses out of the tunnels.
while others get an ApoA sticker and are called Lp(a). The Lp(a) bus drivers tend to be a bit reckless and bump into the walls of the tunnel (arteries) causing damage.
The liver also makes big Blue Buses (lipoproteins) called HDL to collect tired passengers from cells and take
This new, full bus is called VLDL. The Red Buses leaves the liver and drives around in the tunnel (arteries) to deliver passengers to their destinations.
As the passengers get off the big Red Bus, the bus gets smaller. Some Red Buses gets an ApoB sticker and are called LDLs,
I have attempted an analogy for #cholesterol and would love feedback.
Would appreciate it if you have a spare second - maybe
@OxPL_apoB or @PeterAttiaMD
The liver makes big Red Buses (lipoproteins) to carry passengers to cells. The passengers are cholesterol and fat (TGs).
@DrSianAllen I did fencing when I was at uni (a long time ago) - it was a standing joke amongst us that fencers are the most unfit from a respiratory-cardio point of view.
They have good muscle endurance though

Micromanaging our kids every experience and 'protecting' them from perceived dangers limits their capacity to problem solve & increase risk of mental health problems
Only 25% of kids regularly play out on their street.
This number used to be 80%.
Adults have ruined play.
Why? Fear & Safetyism.
When we see threats everywhere, we default to avoid and protect mode.
And it's ruining our kids mental health. Here's why:
@CaloriesProper Wow! I am more & more intrigued by photobiomodulation.
I have a kineom move - and it is the only thing that works for my ankle - suspect OA but nor sure
In light of the grotesque attack on Israel by Hamas, I want to repost my conversation with reknowned Israeli historian Dr. Benny Morris.
Already we are hearing apologists claim that Israel had this coming––that 75 years of colonial oppression is bound to result in an equal and opposite reaction.
Most of the people who say this have no understanding of the relevant history. That is why I did this episode with Dr. Morris: we walk systematically through the history and ethics of the Arab-Israeli conflict from the 19th century to the present. Please listen to the episode with an open mind and share it with your friends.
