We have a 4 day work week & 2 company-wide paid 2 week shutdowns per year, in addition to other holidays & PTO.

It takes discipline & I’ve had to defend the sanctity of email-free weekends (from excited employees or contractors) but it really does help enhance focus.

One argument put forward is that "money isn't everything" and some roles (hospitals, government etc) are ok to pay a lot less because the work they do is important.
