President Bola Tinubu has extended his best wishes to Professor Emeritus Abiola Odejide on her 80th birthday, commending her remarkable achievements, scholarship, and service to the nation.
Prof Abiola Odejide is the first female Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) of the University of Ibadan between 2004 and 2006 and the first Professor of Children’s Literature in Nigeria. She is a Fellow of the Nigerian Academy of Letters.
A statement by Bayo Onanuga Special Adviser to the President, Information and Strategy, indicates that President Tinubu acknowledges Emeritus Professor Odejide’s outstanding contributions to academia, particularly in English and Literary Studies, where she has distinguished herself as a scholar of global repute.
While also extolling her pioneering role in advancing gender advocacy, cultural development, and educational excellence President Tinubu notes that
Professor Odejide's work in Communication and Language Arts has shaped generations, and her advocacy for gender mainstreaming has left an indelible mark on the soul of our academic community.
"Her work reflects an enduring commitment to nation-building and the promotion of values that foster unity, progress, and enlightenment.
The President in expressing his belief that as a trailblazer and role model her legacy will continue to inspire women and young scholars across the country in pursuit of knowledge, leadership, and national development with courage and integrity.
He wished her good health, peace, and fulfilment in the years ahead.
