Professionals from different countries & cultures collaborated on this project to achieve this. Finally, the data will aid in examining the long-term effects of SSA and help spread awareness of its prevalence and assess sustainable treatment and prevention tools.

Their decision to conduct this research was born from the absence of a universal definition of what constitutes harmful sexual experiences between siblings and a taboo surrounding sibling behaviors which lend to minimization and disbelief, which impedes research efforts.
