Only one chance in this lifetime…
Like watching sunset at the beach from the most foreign seat in the cosmos, I couldn’t resist a cell phone video of Earthset. You can hear the shutter on the Nikon as @Astro_Christina is hammering away on 3-shot brackets and capturing those exceptional Earthset photos through the 400mm lens. @AstroVicGlover was in window 3 watching with @Astro_Jeremy next to him.
I could barely see the Moon through the docking hatch window but the iPhone was the perfect size to catch the view…this is uncropped, uncut with 8x zoom which is quite comparable to the view of the human eye. Enjoy.
Christina Koch and Victor Glover. Looking at their happy faces is so heartwarming. The first black man and the first woman to go to the moon and back. They saw the earth rise, earth set, solar eclipse from the moon, the dark side of the moon and made it back safe to the earth🙌❤️
"We are a mirror, reflecting you."
Artemis II mission specialist Jeremy Hansen discusses ways that the crew worked together and supported each other throughout their lunar mission.
Christina Koch’s reflection on Artemis II crew:
“When we saw tiny Earth…what struck me wasn’t necessarily just Earth. It was all the blackness around it. Earth was just this lifeboat hanging undisturbingly in the universe…Planet Earth. You are a crew.”
The Artemis II astronauts were all smiles on the flight deck of USS John P. Murtha after they were extracted from their Orion spacecraft after splashdown.
"It's a special thing to be a human and it's a special thing to be on planet Earth."
Remarks from Artemis II commander Reid Wiseman upon arriving to @NASA_Johnson.
