I went to cast my vote in today's MDP Chairperson elections at Maafannu Madharusa, but here's what happened 👇

I presented my eFaas digital ID - fully verified, official, and modern - and one of the candidate's observers immediately contested it. "Only physical ID accepted."

So now I'm heading back to Villimale to grab my physical card, then returning to vote. Wasted time, unnecessary hassle, and pure frustration in 2026.

This is exactly why we need real change. Not having verified digital identification in the approved list is straight-up medieval. In a country that's leaping into the future, our own party's democratic process is stuck in the past.

When the Party turns 21 in a few days, I honestly hope things evolve. We deserve systems that trust technology, respect our time, and reflect the modern Maldives we’re building.
