Last rally of #GE2024 here in #IslingtonNorth What an incredible evening. Felt really emotional standing with hundreds of others, gathered to support @jeremycorbyn, our MP of 40 years. Standing in solidarity, sharing a vision of a fairer & kinder world

Over 45,000 Palestinians killed, mostly civilians, wrecked homes, a humanitarian catastrophe.
It’s one thing staying silent - but this is just shameful to say the least
Imagine a Labour Party that sends a message to its members not to attend any demonstrations over Gaza…
He added: "...no labour movement is worthwhile unless it organises the non-possessing class in order to overthrow the privileges of the possessing class." 7/7
Susanna Reid points out that in 2017 Lab fought proposals to scrap the universal winter fuel allowance
Up until 2015 the Labour right wanted to scrap it, & when Corbyn came in (who opposed scrapping it) they spent years destroying him so they could return to policies like this
That time HoC Speaker John Bercow introduced @jeremycorbyn to the Youth Parliament - “He says what he means, and he means what he says, and that’s what people say they always want in their politicians.
Please welcome... Jeremy Corbyn."

Thanks for all the bday wishes ♥️ Spending my 44th birthday canvassing with the one and only @LauraAlvarezJC for the incredible Alison Stoecker, Independent candidate in #Hillrise Islington by-election.
Much love to all x
I work in Hillrise, and I’ve been familiar with Alison since 2016. She is a true socialist and will be a superb representative for the ward. If you care about getting your voice heard in Hillrise please vote for her!
I’m standing for councillor in #Hillrise because I believe a stronger, fairer, more hopeful #Islington is possible if we work together.
⏰30 July is the deadline to register to vote in the 15 August #byelection. Don’t miss the chance to have your say.

An unforgettable moment from Barcelona 1992 Opening Ceremony when The Paralympian archer Antonio Rebollo cemented himself into Opening Ceremony lore when he shot a flaming arrow to light the Olympic cauldron.

This is the correct decision, and an important first step in respecting the universal application of international law.
Well done to the millions of people across the country who have made it clear that they refuse to be complicit in war crimes.
We will continue to demand an end to the massacre in Gaza, an end to all arms sales to Israel, and an end to the occupation of Palestine.
Just noticed on my page suddenly unfollowed 80+ people and dropped 20 followers which I definitely haven’t done 🫤 what’s happening to twitter? Anyone else experience this ?
Removing the whip from seven Labour MPs, for voting to scrap the cap to lift children out of poverty (SCANDALOUS!!!), is not only a short-sighted move from Sir @Keir_Starmer but one that I think is- potentially- a positive for the seven MPs.
It’s clear that whatever they do they won’t be the candidates at the next general election for the Labour party; this is as much factional as it is wanting to try and show people the tough man act.
Therefore, they must use the next five years to build and grow in their constituencies, as well as working as a very strong left caucus within the Houses of Parliament, alongside other likeminded MPs such as @JeremyCorbyn.
Whilst it’s clear that, yes, Labour did win an overwhelming majority at the recent general election, it is also clear that that majority is not built on strong foundations. Labour received 9.7 million votes in 2024 compared to the nearly 13 million achieved by Jeremy Corbyn in 2017.
The polling guru John Curtis couldn’t have put it simpler: “Labour’s strength in the commons is heavily exaggerated”.
We know that the reason for Labour’s success was down to the implosion of the Tory party and the rise of Reform. From 2019 (Labour’s “worst defeat ever) to 2024, Labour’s vote share increased by just 1.6%. That is not the marker of a population encouraged by Sir Keir Starmer and the foundations are certainly not built to last. That gives hope for those on the left who don't want to see more of the same despite a rhetoric of "change".
We also saw this in rise of independent campaigns and individuals across the country, as well as the Green party coming second in around about 40 places to labour. Love for Labour was not at the levels it should have been after 14 disastrous years of Tory rule.
When you look to an individual such as Jeremy Corbyn, who was returned to Parliament with a resounding victory, or to somebody such as @LeanneMohamad, who came from nowhere to very close to unseating the now Health Secretary Wes Streeting, it’s very clear that no seat is any longer a safe seat.
John, Apsana, Rebecca, Ian, Zarah, Richard and Imran must continue to put courage over comfort and be the true representatives of their communities that they showed last night. Putting their constituents first over demands of party loyalty.
If they use the next five years as dedicated servants to, and for, their communities- as I know they will- their communities will stand by them at the next General Election. All fighting for a world of equality, fairness and human decency for all.
How can it be right to ever punish somebody for wanting to lift children out of poverty and voting to scrap a cap that has undeniably kept children in poverty?
It never is. It never will be.
The time is now to be bold & brave & to build for tomorrow.

The footage showing a police officer assaulting an unarmed man at Manchester Airport is disturbing.
We totally condemn police brutality and call for those responsible to be held accountable and brought to justice for this violent attack.
