Instructional leadership is perfect for this time - allowing leaders to lead discussions about student achievement and what is going to work best for all involved. Interested to know the thoughts of others about this.
Thinking about the socio contexts of schooling that have seen the resurgence of Instructional Leadership, and the current state of education, particularly in Melbourne comes to mind. @JuNorris#edle682
Transformational leadership would simply not be effective in this context - any vision that a school has had or been working towards this year has been thrown out the window or changed significantly as we pivot to face whatever comes next.
"When teachers know who their students are, what they need to learn, and what they have already mastered, they can identify specific instructional moves that will close the gap." https://t.co/MPNGV7PSJL
Parents have concerns about a possible return to remote learning. The state government says it is yet to make a decision on term three, but a city-wide schools closure looks increasingly likely. https://t.co/AVvaWLotVs @BlakeJohnson#7NEWS
@JuNorris It’s more than D.I... it’s teacher quality, high impact strategies, motivating kids how and why learning is worthwhile. Education is not a means to an end... it is lifelong https://t.co/zymjNgtiHw
A few thoughts I had while working through Module 2 in response to this video - A thread.
Watch “Steven Katz - Teachers Matter” on #Vimeo https://t.co/mJLJXAeqlC
The more social capital, the less teachers can be motivated to strive for continual improvement in their practice - students will succeed regardless. How can we, as leaders, ensure that we are setting targets for both our students and teachers to work at their personal best,
How did your formative assessment practices and provision of feedback change as a result of remote learning? What did you learn about assessing students and providing feedback remotely?
A thought provoking question found on a survey from CEM.
The other question is how do we maintain the digital skills of our juniors who up skilled themselves so quickly - something to capitalise on and set them up for future success #edle682#edle685
@JuNorris@ACUeduandarts Good question. Ours aren’t until halfway through next term but we are still wanting to do them online, much easier to manage and some say more worthwhile
#edle682@JuNorris thinking a lot this week about what elements of remote learning we want to keep. A common theme from my team and my students is 1:1 conferencing. Interested to see how this can be implemented consistently across the whole school moving forward 🤔
