If you like college football at all the Panini CFB cards are a genuinely fun rip. Cool parallels, dope inserts, and some fun throwbacks.
Glad I got that noti when Target restocked from @CardPurchaser discord!
Sequel tweet: extended anglosphere rock rankings
My personal ranking is as follows - remember we are just talking about rock. These are my personal opinions based only on acts that I like:
1. England
2. USA
3. Canada
I’m giving Canada #3 due to Rush (one of my GOATs) Neil Young, the Band, Joni Mitchell, Arcade fire, Metric/broken social scene, Alvvays. Men I trust (not really rock but I can’t not include them). Can’t count Gordon Lightfoot.
4. Australia
They could lay a claim to #3.
AC/DC of course. Men at Work, Nick Cave, silverchair, Jet. Psych rock dominance: Tame Impala, Pond, King Gizzard, Perth ecosystem. The Church. Courtney Barnett. Cat Empire one of my faves. Can’t include Bee Gees.
5. Ireland
U2 of course. Thin Lizzy, the Cranberries, my bloody valentine, Sinaed O’Connor, the pogues, dropkick murphys. Van Morrison is NI so excluded.
6. Scotland
Simple minds, cocteau twins (basically invented dream pop), primal scream, mogwai, franz Ferdinand, belle and Sebastian, CHVRCHES
Other Anglo nations have relatively thin rosters so ending it there. I know I have omissions and mistakes - doing this from memory!
Keep it simple, get down to work
This ranking system is pretty well-designed - using incentives to guide creators' behavior really can drive the platform's overall growth. @River4fun@RiverdotInc
