Shocking to watch this video and realise it’s a small rural town in Ireland. I will be the first to agree that there are a small number of agitators involved in all protests, but most would be concerned, frustrated, and voiceless men and women.
It’s important we all condemn all criminal behaviour or attacks on Gardai and there are no excuses for violence. Peaceful protest is your constitutional right but criminal damage or violence is not a right under any circumstances.
In this video I see a riot squad attacking while women have their backs to them, indiscriminately spraying large volumes of pepper spray. This type of policing is not what Ireland is used to or familiar with.
It’s easy to pass judgment on protestors, but these citizens frustrations are the result of a very dangerous immigration policy the government is overseeing. The lack of communication with communities, forceful use of all available accommodation, and intimidation tactics by security and Gardaí all add to a recipe for disaster.
Is there an easier way to handle this and avoid this disgusting violence and scenes of men and women being manhandled by riot police?
Yes, there is. And that is to take control of immigration and enforce existing laws. Process all asylum applications within 7 days and deport unsuccessful applicants immediately, and welcome successful applicants who are genuine. With the Rwanda Bill in the UK, this problem is about to become much bigger in the next few months as illegals all over England come to Ireland for safe haven.
We need to regain control so these scenes are not repeated, and our Gardaí don’t respond in this manner.
We need to send a strong message to the government, Sinn Fein, Soc Dems, Labour in the local, EU and General Election by rejecting them all as they are all part of the problem dividing society and not part of the solution.
