Imagine a car that still runs perfectly but gets dumped because the tank is empty. That is how many satellites die. Satellites often die because they run out of fuel, not because the electronics fail.

Refueling and repositioning them can add years of service, delay replacement launches, and cut debris.

OrbitAID’s pitch is “orbital fuel stations”: tanker style servicing instead of throwing away working satellites.

Chennai based OrbitAID Aerospace is the first Indian company to try this end to end in space. In early 2027 it plans to send two small satellites into low Earth orbit together. One is the chaser. The other is the target.

The chaser looks at the target with sensors, flies close, docks using its own docking and fuel port, pumps fuel across, then boosts the target to a higher orbit. One flight. Inspect, meet, dock, refuel, extend life.

Very few countries can do this. China has shown in orbit refueling. The United States has tested pieces of the puzzle and is preparing bigger demos. Almost no one else has put a full private servicing chain in orbit.

If OrbitAID succeeds, India joins that tiny club with a homegrown private team, not only a government lab.

That matters. India is putting more satellites up for communication, weather, navigation and defence. Each new launch is costly. If old satellites can live longer, India saves money, keeps services running, and leaves less junk in orbit.

It also means Indian operators will not have to wait for a foreign tanker to come and fill their tanks.

Chennai is quietly becoming a real deep tech and space city. Tamil Nadu has backed space startups, launch firms and a planned space industrial zone in the south.

OrbitAID grew with state startup support and is now aiming at a global servicing market from that same city. Rockets from nearby, satellites from here, fuel stations in orbit next.

Simple idea. Hard job. Two Indian satellites meet in space, one fills the other, both keep working. If it flies, space stops being throwaway.

One year since this audacity.

The victim is bedridden, disoriented, and surviving solely on support, fed through a Ryles tube and requiring round-the-clock nursing and specialized care just to stay alive.. As a family of four with only one earner, they’ve exhausted their savings and borrowed heavily to cover monthly medical bills running into lakhs. They are now crowdfunding, having received no support from the accused’s family.

Meanwhile, the accused is out on bail. The case drags on with long adjournments, and according to a post in r/jammu, the High Court has interim-stayed proceedings under Section 109 (attempt to murder), though I couldn't independently verify this.

What should have been an open-and-shut case will be dragged out for years. Once public memory fades and the family loses the spirit to fight, which they already have, the accused will walk away without consequences.

• They protest during the day and study at night to cover the backlog.

• They are not demanding anyone’s resignation, only a re-examination with transparency.

• They are not abusing any political leader or their family.

• No abusive placards. No reel-making for publicity.
